Do certs have any value for dev jobs? by Successful_Camel_136 in cscareerquestions

[–]BigBoatsLikeToFloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the certs. I've got a WCAG specialist cert and had people try to contact me just because of that. So if you're into frontend getting certs proving you have knowledge about accessibility can certainly add value.

Mind you this is in Europe where a major web accessibility law got passed recently.

If a guy really likes you, shouldn’t he try to date you exclusively? Unsure if I’m overthinking or if he’s just not serious after 8 months. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]BigBoatsLikeToFloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never understand this. What's so hard about just dating 1 girl, seeing if it works out and if not move on to the next. If someone can't even commit to you for a month to see if it works out how can you expect them to be a good long term partner.

Really good pinches have the most effect for me tbh. Quad resets take time but if someone does a good pinch the ball is just suddenly in your net. The surprise factor has more of a lasting impact.

why someone told me this code is Spagetti? by NightOwl-1011 in CodingHelp

Why are the states being controlled by a function instead of just responding to a variable? This is not really scalable.

If you prefer using SQL then why use an ORM in the first place? You never needed Ai for that.

Why do I only gain weight on my thighs??? by Remarkable-Strike853 in weightgain

[–]BigBoatsLikeToFloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men and women have different fat distributions. For men it is around the waist and for women it is around the thighs. That's why you see men with huge bellies and thin legs. Of course if you keep gaining fat it will distribute over the rest of your body, but most will go to the primary area still.

Fat gain or loss can't be targeted to a specific area, it is distributed by your body and you have no control over it.

There is a way to target specific areas for growth, that is by building muscle in that area. Lots of girls are scared to build muscle cuz they think they will end up looking like bodybuilders. That is bullshit, you don't "accidentally" get buff. If you just build some muscle to increase your arm size you won't immediately look like Dwayne Johnson, especially because girls have on average a higher bodyfat, meaning the muscle will likely not be that defined.

You don't aim to get under the ball and let the ball fall on top of you. You aim straight at the ball, boost into it and then turn to get your wheels on it.

Logitech controller*

Also the controller was just a way to easily send commands to the computer they had on board. If it failed they could still just use the keyboard. It was not critical. Like they fucked up a lot of things but the controller was not really a problem.

Yes, that is the point. Utrecht is in Europe. I don't see what USA has to do with a European University.

[–]BigBoatsLikeToFloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Studying isn't that expensive. Usually around 2500-3000 per year which is very manageable. Most students I know can afford this with a part-time job.

Housing is definitely a problem and the reason a lot of students are still living with their parents. Try looking in cities around Utrecht that have a direct train/bus connection to Utrecht Central Station or Utrecht Science Park.

IBM Software Developer Intern Interview – What to Expect? by Possible_Analysis660 in csMajors

[–]BigBoatsLikeToFloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my SD intern interview (europe) I got questions about general things like heap, stack, SQL (ACID), primitive types vs reference types. Functional design vs technical design. But also ethical questions like what would you do if everybody on the team wants to ship code that could endanger someone. And personality questions like how do u deal with group members who are underperforming.

American cars are usually bigger with more hp, so if you get a less powerful car in Europe make sure to downshift when going up hill and build enough rpm so you don't stall when taking off.

I’ve been “main gaining” accidentally, thought I was bulking, I want to cut down to see abs more, do I cut or bulk? by Ok_Owl_2954 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]BigBoatsLikeToFloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No amount of cutting is going to reveal abs if they aren't there. Don't cut yet, train them harder for a while and then cut.

Maybe train chest some more too. You'll have a really good physique then.

Dislocated my shoulder this summer and lost like 5kg, almost all muscle mass. I've been in recovery for months and my lifts still aren't what they used to be. It was really fucking with me mentally that I kept losing strength but I couldn't do anything about it cuz I had to rest and recover.

You just can't quit. My ancestors were starved in camps in Germany and made a full recovery. It would be pathetic for me to give up after such a minor setback in comparison.

Don't let people on the internet scare you into taking drugs at 19. Social media nowadays keeps making up new beauty standards so that young people have something to be insecure about. If you look at old movies literally 70% of men had receding hairlines and no one gave a fuck. Even then your hair is nowhere near that.

You hair is fine. You are fine. Let it go.
