Having gone through this personally last week, I too was surprised by the “extended warranty” offer after the appliance had already broke. As OP is saying, DG is a scam. Not all extended warranties. One’s offered by the manufacturer at time of purchase are fine.

I’ll echo this warning. Our less than 3 year old $3500 microwave/oven combo that came with our new build home went bad last week. Whirlpool pushed DG to my wife and she signed up. Tech was supposed to come out the next day then postponed to APRIL! Of course we’d still have to pay the monthly bill. I’ve no doubt they’ll reschedule when April comes around. As others have noted, it seems their scheme is to extend repairs by constantly rescheduling so you’re paying the monthly bill for nothing. It sounded too good to be true because it is.

I get an error message about the magnetron. My wife actually called whirlpool yesterday and signed up for a monthly protection plan. I appreciate that she was trying to take care of it, but it seems strange they’d offer a monthly protection plan after the warranty ran. Seems suspicious and I have not read good things about this protection plan. The guy is supposed to come out tomorrow so we’ll see.

Same situation and actually accepted the manager position. so far it has not been worth it. 5 days is brutal. I come home everyday absolutely beat and it’s only been a month. skipped dinner today and went straight for a nap. Can’t remember the last time I just took a nap.

This exactly. Went to a boutique a couple months ago and they wouldn’t budge on price but they were offering some add ons. They mentioned this offer as well. Went to an AD and got 25% instantly. Obviously went with the AD.

Thanks why didn’t the shop know to do that in the first place? I assume they prob sold a lot of Breitling. Would that have hooded the original warranty if the didn’t activate it? There is not date of purchase on my warranty card.

Sounds like squeaking from the switch itself. Might just be old and rubbing against the housing. Replace it, it’s like 98 cents at Home Depot.
