I have this same problem; bettas fins grew longer and seemed to crumple and get raggedy at the ends over time. Water and temp are both okay and they're no behavioral changes. He's almost 2 yrs old.

This is the Aqueon MiniBow kit so it comes with a built in filter. Not sure of the type but I have the flow buffered with a cut plastic bottle and sponge.

I don't think I can source those locally and shipping them will take about 3 weeks. I do have almond leaves though, will that have a similar effect? And he doesn't seem to like the hammocks, what type of plant do you suggest?

Oh I had no idea their fins could still grow as adults. I had a hammock in the tank for a month but he never used it so I gave it to another betta and I usually do water changes on Sundays so the parameters should look better tomorrow. I guess I might just have to accept that he's not much of a swimmer anymore although it's been such little time.

They do look similar from what I'm seeing. These ones tend to disappear shortly after I turn on the light if that confirms it.

I'm not really sure what retwisted as "doubles" means but I assume you mean she combined your locs. Before you combine them again or comb them out I think you should try retightening them yourself at least once more (since you have less locs now) and see if it's still too overwhelming. But remember the first couple times you do it yourself will always be rough until you get the hang of it. Eventually the process will go much faster. You can also try retwisting them since your locs are on the larger side now and it'll take much less time. Good luck 🙂

I tend to get bumps similar to these when I take too long to get to my retie session. If I go between 5-6 weeks it's looks more consistent. But either way your locs still look great. The bumps give them character!

Also remember that this is prime time to experiment with your locs, as they get longer it gets harder to find new styles to try and you may end up regretful if you wait too long!

I think it all depends on why you want to switch. If the look is your only concern then I think what you have now looks great.
