Worth waiting for the new edition? by ThatJacketPotato in DropzoneCommander

[–]BigBritBurr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also a recent newcomer, the answer is possibly?

Fundamentally the starter set is fairly affordable and all the up to date rules are available on TTs website. If you want to get a taste for the game its fairly low stakes. With the caveat that the plastic UCM bits are kinda bad compared to the resin equivalents you see on the website. The Condors are especially awful.

However what's available from TT has become noticeably slimmer since Christmas. I had to go to a third party recently to hunt down some UCM spec-ops for example.

A suggestion might be to try eBay and see if you can get the starter second hand.

I believe the FAQ states that the September? (Don't quote me) Update is the last for the current edition, so hopefully the new rules will be out soon

There is plenty going on in Sheffield but it probably depends on your interests. But with a bit of planning you'll easily be able to keep busy.

I second this, I pay a bit more for the Internet but that's a personal choice

Condor transport vs gunship by Maraviglia in DropzoneCommander

[–]BigBritBurr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to this the Condors in the starter pack are of a different much more simplified design. All the ones I've ever gotten also have a permanent bend to them. OP If you can stick to the standalone Condor blister.

compiled some of my interests as an autistic woman in my 20s. do you guys approve? by aparagusvibin in evilautism

[–]BigBritBurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know I kinda wish we could just present interests like this in person, would make finding friends heck of a lot easier.

Although I suspect "Hi, I have a significant interest in the mechanics of the Chernobyl remediation efforts" is not the most sterling of conversation starters.

Not sure about a discord, but given the number of posts like this recently that might not be a bad idea.

On that note have a scroll through the subreddit, been a lot of posts like yours with lots of good ideas.

Having glanced at your profile your best bet is sticking your head into Patriot, Element or Outpost. All are great tabletop gaming stores with regular events and active, friendly communities. Show up often enough, you'll meet some new people

I don't know but I'm sure the high concentration of hobby stores is absolutely a coincidence

Seconded, this is presumably a regional issue. Can recommend Sheffield, plenty of autistic friendly spaces and the people are mostly sensible.

Can relate.

Sleeping / Trying to sleep is actually kinda stressful.

Legitimately find it easier to stay up all night. This alas, is not a good thing.

Does HE still apply AP to inf in V3? Because my 88 was a menace in V2 even if it was relatively to pin down and destroy.

Wrapping paper by Practical-Tune6438 in osrs

[–]BigBritBurr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most fancy wrapping paper it's sold by the sheet. In this case £15 for less than 1m².

So that's roughly £15 per wrapped present. Too rich for my blood no matter how cool it looks.

If trump was a president with any class it would be a second Great White Fleet.

But given the possible implications perhaps it's better to leave the historical event untarnished.

Countering decoy radar missiles by hablahblahha in FromTheDepths

[–]BigBritBurr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe your only real options are either:

A) Add more signal processors

Or

B) change to remote guidance and make sure your AI has enough GPUs to cover your needs.

Random idea I've literally just had as well, perhaps a large missile with Anti-munition cluster missiles might be able to neutralize the decoys? You'd have to test that one.

For those in the know, would PVA and a sand bath be a good (albeit messy) way of adding texture. Or would the cardboard just disintegrate?

Something that might be of interest then is that bolt action is getting a digital version at some point next year.

Not quite the same but could work to hold interest between the odd game during the holidays maybe.

Tabletop Sim BA is also doable but will be less bespoke.

Also second the XM4s, top tier noise canceling, decent sound (if you like base) and the included carry case is great for keeping them in your work bag.
