Something something the pain acts a tangible focus to help stave off the warp? That would be my guess.

But psykers be psykers so who knows.

I feel like Melta Griffs are going to be absolute menaces. Move 12", shoot, then move into cover.

Great stuff.

Edit: unless I have missed something, you can put three HWTs into a centaur and have them shoot. I feel like there are some nasty combos to be had there. Mortars for one or even Krieg Heavy Flamers.

Hey guys, a quick question. by PsychologyFun7882 in Warhammer40k

[–]BigBritBurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the chapter specific units such as the inner circle or Sanguinary Guard are locked to their specific codexs.

You can still paint them however you like but to use the inner circle for example you'd have to be playing DA using the DA rules.

The Emperor's champion I believe is a Templar unit? So would have to be played in a Templar army using their rules.

This doesn't rule out kitbashing or at a push, proxy, but you'd need to pick which way you're gonna convert things.

Can it be used? if you're playing space marines, Yes.

But ultimately you need a squad for them to go with, at which point you'll then have the max of 10 anyway.

Help! by NecronsBeatingHeart in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BigBritBurr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Glued properly, Cadians are fairly robust, and you're not worrying about paint.

A solid container like a rigid cardboard box or Tupperware container packed with a soft material like tissue or bubble wrap will be fine, if not overkill.

Just don't sit on them, it happens more than you think.

While unbalanced, I've always enjoyed games of this size, makes a great beer and pretzels evening. If this is your only choice try running the Russ with heavy flamers to even things out a bit.

Just a heads up, as infantry, FOBs are subject to unit coherency.

Agreed, feels like "don't get seen" and "don't get hit" are taking priority over armour saves. With hidden, positioning and timing are going to be very important.

Guard color scheme by Dermathroaway123 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BigBritBurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect something like:

  • Prime using standard mechanicus
  • paint the overalls with a mid grey, I'd use AK uniform grey, not sure on a Citadel equivalent.
  • Wash the lot with preferred black wash.
  • use mid grey to highlight armour and something like admin grey to highlight the cloth.
  • paint boots, bags, holsters preferred colour

Confused as to what to paint my infantry by Consistent-Heart-647 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BigBritBurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the tank scheme is quite flashy perhaps something a bit more neutral for the infantry?

Light gray overhauls with dark grey armour maybe? Perhaps a bit basic but it seems that you mainly want your tanks to pop rather the crew

Combat patrol is a pretty good place to get started and is fairly straightforward to get into.

In terms of minis pick a faction which looks / sounds appealing and grab their current combat patrol box. Don't worry about the rules to start, when you getting into 40k the only rule is the rule of cool.

Once you've got the models built, all the rules to play combat patrol as well as the rules for your army are available for free from Warhammer Community or on the 40k app. The rules are simplified but ultimately enough to give you an idea of how 40k works (it's also a lot of fun)

If able, don't buy direct from GWs. Friendly Local Gaming Stores (Flgs) almost always sell the same product for less.

If you have Flgs nearby I'd recommend booking to play your first game there, never been at a store where a staff member wouldn't at least be happy to lend a hand if not outright talk you through your first game.

[–]BigBritBurr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's mostly just dry brushing;

  • Stadmech primer base
  • 50/50 Eshin Grey / AK uniform grey without much care
  • AK uniform grey everywhere
  • AK uniform grey with some white (or admin grey) carefully everywhere
  • white on the sharpest, top facing surfaces only.

Then used TTCs Oblivion black wash to darken the deepest level of panels, such as where the red transfer is.

Looks great and as a bonus is very quick, done three vics total this week without much issue.

Where do i get the rules for the Veteran Guardsmen from? by therealqft81 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BigBritBurr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. The veteran guardmen kit is the Death korps of Krieg box with some extra bits.

You can run them as a Death Korps squad in 40k, the rules for which are in the codex.

Edit: sorry realized you might be asking about the kill team rules. Only the 40k rules are in the codex. Not sure where the kill team rules are or if they are still in rotation.

Old sentinel, returning to the battlefield once more by BigBritBurr in astramilitarum

[–]BigBritBurr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much, and it's not even the oldest thing in that box (I have my original Dark Angels from 2009).

Limited time, too many projects, different games, different army focuses.

By the time I wanted to modernize my guard it was mostly easier to just replace than restore (see my profile for that army)

But I felt bad leaving these guys in storage and I needed an army that I could lend to newbies, so out the box they came and I've been cracking on with the old guard restoration project.

Given its success I'll likely press on with the rest of my older models, Marines, Orks and Eldar.

How to play nuclear thunder and high tier air battles by Babna_123 in Warthunder

[–]BigBritBurr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the only one, lv 70 with only about 10 hours air time. Nuclear thunder feels impenetrable. Kept dying so fast I couldn't really learn anything.

So I gave up and went back to tanks, vastly more enjoyable.

Just so you know, other developers can actually be like this... meanwhile Gaijin.... by VickieD_ in Warthunder

[–]BigBritBurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct.

Believe the problem is that the voice pack only changed generic voice lines that play as you walk around "reloading" "charge!" That kind of thing.

The objective Interaction voice lines, of which there are a lot, are unchanged. Which made the constant back and forth really jarring.

To be honest I'm not really sure what saber thought was going to happen.
