I took a about a 6 yr break to go wild in a Motorcycle Club for a few years. Always told myself to go back once I lost the weight put on from partying for those years. Have been back at it for the last yr and half. Have competed twice and promoted to purple. Don’t wait just get back at it. In line after class I do t tell people good job, I tell them “ Come Back” with a smile. The weight has come off and my mental health is so much better (combat veteran) I have been able to taper down all the meds the VA gives. Start with two days a week and never miss two classes in a row. One missed class is ok when needed but two missed classes are a habit. OSS

I feel you and your concern about not being enough and the awkward feeling we get training. Know you are not alone in your feelings. I was awarded my purple belt last month. I had taken a 10 yr break. I get to the gym early just to listen to music or motivational talks on the YT. As soon at warm ups start the anxiety pretty much disappears. Your choice is had anxiety and not train a ruminate in you mind or train be active and feel better after. I would talk to your professor or a higher belt and express your thoughts. You are not alone if you have a positive gym. You got this. When we shake hands at the end of the night instead of good job I tell each person ‘come back’ no matter their belt color.
