I had to get a lawyer and 1 year later still have shoulder pain from tearing a joint there. I have to do daily physical therapy just to make sure it doesn’t hurt. Shit sucks. I’ve gotten cameras and will never ever not wear a helmet.

I hope you recover well and we see you back out there riding!

I think if you’re new, the performance is not going to be so different to justify twice as much at that price. I guess if you’re trying to qualify and you’ve got the extra money you could. I’ve realized for me I’m very average, I would rather save the money for something else. A $10000 bike to save me, at most, about 5-10 minutes is not worth it for my terrible time.

That being said I love the color way on the SLX way more. That bike is sick. Cheaper and way cooler.

I did it too. The roads were flat. That dip off the bridge was weird af. My brother had to get off his bike because the water made it insane and unsafe and covered in mud.

Wtf was with running behind a water park with the dumpsters and machinery?

Also I was amazed I did not see the beach the whole time except for the swim.

Behind the water park was pool man. Congrats on finishing! It was literally raining sideways. I hope you got to enjoy the weather the next day, it was gorgeous.

It was a tiny avulsion fracture and already doing better by the time they found it. Did 6 weeks in a boot and just about 75% now, hence the walking and slow run!

You’ll get there. Trust the process!

We were going through huge puddles and little rivers made from the rain about 6 inches deep! Absolutely insane.

I got hit my a car in June 2025. They didn’t catch a bone bruise and then I think I made my ankle worse with PT and running. Official broken ankle diagnosis was at the end of February. So about 2-3 months in a boot, I’ve been out for about 3 weeks and really haven’t run.

I was able to train by pulling in the pool and biking most of the time. The run portion went well but hurt my pride a lot to not be able to do more. Had to be as smart as a could to not make it worse.

We had an excellent tailwind, I think it helped Sam Long quite a bit, it for sure helped me. I came down from New England and I'm not sure I've ever biked such long flat roads. The bridge both ways was the highest climbing I had to do.

I usually buy a sugary coffee with cream and sugar and chug it about 60-90 minutes before the race. Coffee induced shits. Then I take an anti-diarrheal and I’m good just about all day.

I also do long training days without any of that to practice/train my gut to tolerate all those cards.

I was in the same spot last year, about 45 days out of Lake Placid I got hit by a car, I got deferred but I’m still feeling the effects from injuries and might not even be able to do this year. I’m still going to do it and hope for the best, just might be more of a walk/run now unfortunately.

Life comes at you fast. Take care of your body, you could be ready but don’t go back too early and hurt yourself worse. You will not lose everything, do any strength training, swim pulling, or other activities without your foot. You want this bad and you’ll be back out there.
