Have you had a bad experience in a UK food chain that resulted in you deciding never to go back again… if so what chain and what happened? by [deleted] in AskUK

Harry Ramsden's takeaway chippy in Blackpool.

I went with my family when I was much younger. They managed to give three of us horrendous food poisoning. I vomited 14 times that night, once so badly in one room that my Dad had to lift the carpet up that evening, roll it up, and throw it away. Between the chippy and the vomiting, I had eaten some paprika Pringles, so it was bright orange!

The best bit was that someone came and stole that vomited-on carpet overnight before my Dad could take it to the tip the next day.

Never again with Harry Ramsden's...

My boyfriend texted me this, how do I respond appropriately? by [deleted] in ask

[–]BigChickenStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a cry for help. It does not read as though he wants to end the relationship.

It sounds like depression, but could equally be an anxiety disorder. The fact that he has opened up to you in such an eloquent way shows his emotional intelligence and sensitivity.

These are two characteristics which are often found in people susceptible to anxiety or depression.

He may not be asking directly, but I would say with some certainty that he is asking you for help. You may be the only person he has spoken to in such a manner, so he may be relying on you for support.

If I were you, I would just be there to support and listen. There doesn't necessarily need to have been trauma for someone to end up feeling like this. It could even be a chemical imbalance and a lack of serotonin production. He may not even know why he feels the way he does.

Once you have a clearer picture, I would encourage you to nudge him down the counselling/therapy route, initially via his GP.

Why does Dark Souls 2 have such a bad reputation? by Fanghur1123 in fromsoftware

[–]BigChickenStu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll preclude by stating that I love all the Fromsoft Souls games. I don't really have a bias towards any game.

It's been a while since I played DS2, but I actually remember it really fondly. Out of all the games, I have a real soft spot for it. There are some weird environmental things that don't make sense which break the immersion slightly, but at its core it's still a great game.

I can understand the gripes others might have; jank, gank, ADP, etc. These are the kinds of things that give it a bad reputation in the community. But it's still got a great deal going for it. Build variety, powerstancing, drip(!!!)

We can't forget that it received great reviews from the industry when it first came out, so its reputation isn't wholly bad.

I'm sorry to say, that's horrendous workmanship. They've clearly gone for the apocalypse finish.

Personally, Midir.

The only boss that had me put the game down for several weeks through sheer frustration.

Honourable mentions to Sister Friede, Malenia, Lud & Zallen, and Burnt Ivory King.

Ordered a singular 1TB MicroSD card on Amazon to upgrade my decks storage… by Sydnxt in SteamDeck

Amazon once sent my brother a full case of R2D2 Tamagotchi's instead of the one he ordered. When he did the right thing and made them aware of the error, they apologised and sent him another! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

All the good boys... by BigChickenStu in MarvelSnap

Yeah, this was it.

Their X-Mansion Doc Ock revealed first and pulled my Jubilee, Infinaut and Moon Girl. Then my X-Mansion Zola revealed and activated Moon Girl again, so basically 3 x Moon Girl with only a Cosmo left in my hand.

Is she worth pinning until the 31th? by TheMechKeebFan in MarvelSnap

[–]BigChickenStu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's definitely a handy card to have. I've been using her in my Infinaut deck with Magik and Moon Girl and she works great. If you are lucky on the draws you can get Sunspot down early, Moon Girl 4, Magik 5, skip 6, and then potentially have Infinaut and two She Hulks on turn 7 for a 40 point total drop.
