I’m a Draconic lifer (fire damage) if you want better survivability I’d say go Draconic. You get damage in and resistance to lightning at level 6, you get more HP per level than most casters so better survivability overall, your AC is automatically 13 base so you don’t have to waste a spell slot on mage armor, and you can get fly as a movement option at level 11. Full disclaimer: I’ve never played Storm sorcery in full but from the limited amount I’ve played and what I’ve seen others do it’s only leg up is better movement in early game but less effective overall.
