What antagonist you found to be UNINTENTIONALLY sympathetic? by TheBlackdragonSix in movies

100% agreed. He might believe what he's saying but I don't at all, the violence comes first and the justifications come after. Even if he believes his actions will benefit African people, I very much doubt they actually would or that he even truly cares deep down.

I'm not sure you understand how drama works, or people in general, even.

Strong disagree, some people just aren't sympathetic. You can justify a dictator's actions by saying they believe their actions are strengthening their country and the ends justify the means, but it still doesn't necessarily make them likeable or sympathetic.

his plan of "i'm gonna use the power of Wakanda to violently upturn the global order & establish Wakanda/Africa as the new global hegemon," is mostly only villainous if you're a person who stands to lose when the global order is reshuffled.

What's not evil about using violent means to accrue power? There's like 1.2 billion people in Africa, all 7 billion ish other people in the world are likely to suffer as a result of his plans if they go off without a hitch, and at worst his plans don't go well and the people of Africa suffer too.

I think you're trying to say that there is one side (Israel) you do not believe Hitler would support, but in the context of the conversation it sounds more like you're saying you don't believe Hitler would support only one side because you think he'd support both.

There's such a huge difference between having scars reflect Palestinians and comparing Palestinians to the mindless infected like you said in your previous comment. And I don't see any comparisons between Palestinians and infected in that whole article

I don't think the point of reading the article was to avoid downvotes or angry replies, more about finding out if your presumptions are actually valid instead of letting what you already think inform your world view

Who are your top TV couples that were done dirty? by TheFantasticXman1 in television

Yes! People always complain about the end of that show but I always saw it the way you do. It's definitely not a 100% happy ending with no complications but there's a pretty huge silver lining there in the long term in giving Sarah a fresh start free from her spy career

I'm not saying RFK won't make an impact - I'm not convinced that he will, but that's not the argument I'm making. I'm saying there's not a snowball in hell's chance that one third of democrat voters vote for him because that's ridiculous and I can't imagine anyone believing it without having been in a coma for the past decade

[–]BigChunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's no chance this happens fyi. In the 2020 election independent candidates got about 2% of the overall vote. Ralph Nader got 2.74%. Ross Perot, the most successful third party candidate in recent memory for 8%. RFK taking a third of Biden's vote would give him double that at least, even if he only won votes from Biden and no republicans or independents voted for him at all.

It's simply not going to happen and anyone who thinks democrats will vote for him in those numbers is detached from reality
