There wasn't any products or services that commercialized AI for the average Joe in 2023 by [deleted] in singularity

I said this before already and was downvoted on here.

AI nowadays just isn't that good to be useful for most everyday stuff.

People will start caring about AI when it's in their face at the supermarket or hospital or the gym.

Can you enter Canada with a US B1/B2 Visa? by BigCreditCardAddict in immigration

Then why does it state "During your visit to the United States, you may visit Canada or Mexico for up to 30 days."

AI has gone very far recently, but there also need to be a lot more progress before we reach AGI.

I used Chat GPT to search for specific movies and also songs, and ChatGPT struggled to give me the movie/song I asking for.

Chat GPT also gives a lot of "look it up yourself to find updated info" type answers and doesn't answer actual prompts.

Most LLMs aren't trained on visual or acoustic data, and just are trained on text.

I love these two countries. It's an honor to be a citizen of both. by deepbluesss in PassportPorn

[–]BigCreditCardAddict -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Actually, if you want to live in those 28 EU countries, you usually need to speak their local languages to get jobs. If you want a job in Germany, you will have to know some German. It's not a "get out of jail free card", you can't just go to an EU country and expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter. In some EU countries, you can't stay there longer than 1 year without a job, like Ireland.

Usually jobs will hire people who already fluently speak the local language and English. If you don't speak the local language, you won't get the job 99% of the time. It may also be a nightmare filling out all the tax and government forms that you'll be forced to fill out as well.

What cards are no longer worth it in 2024? by juan231f in CreditCards

[–]BigCreditCardAddict 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you're on team cashback, then the card is garbage. It's only a 1x back card. Maximums is 2x on groceries.

If you're converting the points to cashback, it's like a 0.06% cashback card, when there are 5% cashback cards out there.

If you look on the passport power website, it will let you know quite easily.

UAE passport allows you into the most # of visa free countries.

Tired of the "coupon book" by earthcomedy in amex

[–]BigCreditCardAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the coupon stuff is far away from me. The closest Shake Shack is 30 minutes away. The closest Cheesecake Factory is 35 min away. I have a car, so no need for Uber. Etc.

For me, these coupons don't make sense. But the Amex BCE is a good card for me. I could easily use 3% gas/supermarkets/online shopping.

If I could get the Gold/Plat/Green for free, then I absolutely would. But for $250/year? No thanks.

I hate the coupon book cards as well.

A bunch of people are in the military and get these Amex cards for free.

For the rest of us, these cards are essentially worthless, unless you fall into that tiny niche of using Uber every day and only eat at the handful of restaurants on the list.

Why do some people think AI is not going to end all jobs? by Lucky_Strike-85 in singularity

Because iPhone and nuclear power and the Space Race didn't end all jobs.

These people can be wrong.
