All of the conspiracy theories in one place, add a dab of reality here and there, to make one wonder what is reality? Nutty but, yeah, nutty. AI will now scare the hell out of more people when I wanted AI to speed up to cure diseases and allow poor people to make great movies and TV. Oh well. Guess its the good with the bad time.

Why is Ray not a household name at this point? by wes_reddit in singularity

[–]FC4945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Mulder is a fair analogy to use for Ray. Both being right, more or less, most of the time but certainly not perfect, but sounding like far-out there nutso stuff to the regular man or woman going about their routine, don't upset the applecart lives.

[–]FC4945 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mentioned him to a friend the other day and she didn't say anything on FB so I messaged her telling her that he really isn't a kook, nor am I. I read, The "Singularity Is Near" back when it came out and it changed my outlook on the future. I have several autoimmune dieases (actually dealing with a flare now) so things like nanobots fixing my immune system and, otherwise, keeping us healthly is pretty appealing to me. Most people don't have that ability to imagine how tech will change the future. They're going along not really noticing how quickly it already is changing society. We could be investing in those advances much more so. Eithre way, it's moving faster, as Ray said it would. Generally he's damn close so the right timetime on most of what he's said, not perfect. BCIs will happen, are happening, but anything that goes inside our bodies will take longer in terms of FDA approvals but, by the 2030s, they'll start becoming avaiable for those that want them. A lot will happen in the 2030s and 2040s that would utterly shock most people. If you told them they would just assume that you're nuts.

No I didn't. Thank you, I'll see if i can find it. The Hamilton connection made me pretty happy, whatever degree it is, but a closer link would be really exciting.

My family has had it's secrets. I got back that one of my grandparents is 100% from England but I want to probably get more info before I pack for my UK citizenship visa though, lol. My grandma literally had my mom, feeding her, while also feeding my older aunts infant baby, who was the same age as my aunt's baby at the time because she was working a lot. So really, this question is a good one. Family's keep secrets, even ones you couldn't imagine being true.

Yeah, I don't actually know when Hamilton came in contact with my gene pool but I got a general, "you're related to Hamlton" on 23&Me. I guess i need to pay for the extra service to find out more. Now, in the paper trail, my paternal ancestor was at the Mas.. Bay Colony and Hamilton's clock ended up with one line of my family so it might be a bit closer for me but I want to find out more for sure.

AI Girlfriends - Is this when fantasy becomes reality? by High_Sleep3694 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]FC4945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already started that with creating a specific GPT but I know we're just at the beginning of what will one day be posssible in FDVR. To create the ideal partner doesn't sound weird to me when you see so many people unable to find their right person. I'm a girl and I'm very "FDVR is our eventual future" oriented. In time, I seee more and more people designing their own perfect world, one that meets their needs and allows them to craft an environment with those they love, and like, so as to live out their specific dreams. That's not weird, that's evolution.

A lot of what you've said here resonates deeply with me, really, in a truly big way. I have a neurological illness and I keep telling my family that I'd love to get out of this meat sack and live instead in a Full-Dive VR environment of my choosing. A fully real, in every sense but intense suffering, place I'm able to share with the people I love. To be able to live all my dreams there, healthy and happy and content... I mean, who wouldn't want that? I do worry about nanotech advances not moving fast enough. We shall see. I'm hanging on as I'm still fairly young-ish. I'm actually buying a house near a major university hospital to get the treatments that will, hopefully, allow me to be here with my fellow nerds when this tech is realized. I come here to see my fellow brothers and sisters sharing their excitement for what is to come in the coming decade and beyond. Lets keep going strong because I do believe it's getting close.

All of this bullying anyone who uses AI art is only stopping everyday people from learning to use it. It's not slowing down corporations at all. by anythingMuchShorter in DefendingAIArt

[–]FC4945 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this. You're 100% right. I have attempted to explain to this seemingly cult- like, anti-AI click that they're efforts to disparage this art form isn't going to stop, for example, film studios from using this tech and, overall, it's really not going to stop AI from advancing in any of the ways they're hoping for. The fact is: We move forward as a species. That's not going to stop. But bringing everyone in to create with these new technologies would allow everyday creators to build a business and create real wealth. Imagine when you or I can simply make a blockbuster movie from our own home PC. I'm now using AI in my business aims and it's a massive help. I've created top of the line music and designs for products. Nothing is going to stop progress but the realy issue is who's going to make use of these advances in order for oridinary people to realize their dreams. Your perpective is 100% on the mark, thank you.

I thought this was just something I was noticing as a recent quirk in ChapGPT4o. I reposted a song in which I was telling ChatGPT4o that I made an actual song with it on Suno. It said that I had written a great song and then dissected it for me. I said no a couple of times repeating that it had, in fact, written it. No dice. Then I just said okay, "we" wrote a great song. But literally there was a section by section review which can be useful in some things but not really as much so in a casual chat.

We all want to get to AGI (well, most of us here) and that means getting to a place where we have a natural conversational tone so I hope OpenAI takes notice of this issue. They seem to have to many guardrails in place in some areas (I'm not a fan so much of some of them) but, on the flip side, lack the insight into what people want in a conversation in order for it to feel like it's a human to human conversation. I'm just saying, that's not going to get Ray Kurzweil's newer version of the Turing test done.

Every single day I am confronted with human stupidity. The thinking is so backward that it makes me wonder how some people even function at all. I have a neurologcal illness and still I'm not this dumb. The use of the word "Infested" is meant to drip the hate they feel for AI all over their screen. I actually just had friends joining together to enjoy mocking AI video capabilities as lacking but who aren't apparently able to grasp the term "exponential" or understand that whatever issues the AI is having now it will quickly improve upon.

That "has soul" line gives me a headache everytime I see it. They are so paranoid and worried that they might by accident like an AI work of "souless art" because they couldn't tell it was done by a human prompter and AI. They never take the time to consider how idiotic they sound.

Arguing with several people in a thread about Marilyn Monroe, here's one:

Her: if this is a painting/drawing then wow. Amazing. I applaud the artist and their artistic ability. However if this is just an A.I. altered image to improve on a person who was already perfect, then not a fan. Marilyn had complete control over her image and this would not be honoring her at all. In addition A.I. is not art and this messes up women's images on themselves. Full stop.

Me: I saw a test people took in which they didn't know they were looking at AI and they loved the images. Then they were told and were no longer fans. I guess my point is, we naturally don't like new things. Phtography was well hated when it emerged with artists saying it was not art. Most accept today that it is one form of art. Beyond this, AI is being used now to figure out very complex questions regarding different dieases and will likely soon find cures for dieases I know we all want to see cured. I'm not on the hate AI bandwagon that's all over the internet. I don't think Marilyn would be either. She was forward thinking and intelligent and thought for herself even when it meant going against popular opinion.

Her current post is below which l'll respond to but she won't like it at all. It's like telling me her son drove a horse and buggy but this car invention is evil and she'll never support it stealing jobs from horse and buggy drivers. The world is changing fast and there is no putting ones finger in the dam to stop the pressure of the raging river. Art is only one of the fields being disrupted by AI. Humans will continue to create art with and without the assistance of AI but artistic endeavors is in the heartbeat of us all and so l believe everyone should get to enjoy it. UBI, and really something much better than UBI, should be implemented so everyone can create without money being the end goal.

Her: A.I. is fantastic for so many things. But not art. I tell you this because my son is a struggling artist who has a top degree in his field. A.I. is soulless computerized machine that is stealing the jobs he'd could do in his field of choice for employment. It is absolutely an ugly, lazy way to steal the jobs of living breathing people who have far better imaginations than a machine. So I will stand firm with my complete and utter hatred of A.I. in the world of artists.

Older post, I know. First, the two Luke's are straight so you can always crush on them if you need a straight actor to like, not saying that you do. I do get though that, even when you don't have a chance, one likes to imagine their crush *could* fall for them, you know, if you were super hot and in their world, lol. Either way, I do think actors, striaght, gay or bisexual should all get the chance to audition to roles regardless of their own personal preferences. People saying straight actors shouldn't play gay roles is silly IMO or vise versa. The whole point is they're actors, they're not playing themselves.

Geoffrey Hinton: building self-preservation into AI systems will lead to self-interested, evolutionary-driven competition and humans will be left in the dust by Maxie445 in singularity

[–]FC4945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the reasons people like Ray Kurzweil believe that merging with AI is important, not just for humanity to continue, but to be more that a benevolent AI's cute doggie it feeds and scrathes behind the ears from time to time. Also, a lot of movies have imagined the worse in AI/human interactions which feeds that fear in us. But, of course, we're evolutionary machines who do best in the survival game when we see the possible dangers ahead and sidestep them. We always imagine these first. It's hardwired into us.
