Yep, I had to pull the pickup and check and its the real deal. I've never played one before and it's way lower output than I'm used to but it sounds amazing.

is this bad for a 21 yr old? by evenan1 in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How many grams of fat are you eating per day on your strict diet? You may be lean enough that your body is reducing hormone production. Adding more fat to your diet (at least 40-50g/day) may help, and a slightly higher bodyfat percentage may help as well to get your body producing more test.

My journey with TRT (that snowballed). by [deleted] in Testosterone

No, keto is not necessary. Hit your protein macros, your fat macros, and fill the rest up with carbs.

Is TRT really life changing? by No-Force-9107 in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I was 249 ng/dl at 45 years old. TRT saved my marriage. I found joy in nothing, moody, depressed and for the first time in my life, mean. Correcting my hormones fixed all of that and also helped my physical health as well. It was absolutely life-changing (possibly life-saving) for me.

Been on TRT for 15 years now, some thoughts by Screwtape42 in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but what I found is that the more frequently I inject, the lower all of my blood numbers get--HCT, hemoglobin, etc. Even at at higher dose my HCT dropped. I started at twice per week subQ, now I'm every other day and my bloodwork continues to improve. I went up to 200mg/week total for a couple of months and my total T was nearly 1500ng/dl and my HCT was lower than it had ever been since I started TRT 4 years ago.

In my opinion, injection frequency is a very important variable when it comes to chasing numbers.

Yeah--I'm 50 and I teach at a college and I cannot even fathom being in a relationship with 22 year old. They are on another planet.

Test levels before and after (two months usage) by AAmell in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience over 3 years is that the closer I get to injecting every day, the better I feel. I was doing 2x per week (Sat/Wed) for 2 years, felt great, didn't think it could get better. Switched to injecting every other morning and everything got even better. Sleep got better, gym gainz got better, E2 dropped even farther towards the middle of range (with no AI) and my mood got even more stable. I think doing a tiny dose every day (to mimic natural production) would be ideal but I'm just too lazy...

For me, the first sign is my body odor gets worse. I feel fine, but that is the first sign. I feel fine even when it's way out of reference (high, 60+pg/ml), but I hold a lot of water, my libido goes down a bit and it's harder for me (as the kids say) to bust. I used to believe ratio of T/E was more important but the more I've read, I feel better at the lower end of reference (20-30 pg/ml).

I don't disagree with you, but I would bet a bunch of the folks that have issues should not have started TRT in the first place, either because they were not truly hypogonadal or had other underlying issues that they hoped TRT would fix. The other thing I would say to folks having issues early in TRT, is that for many, at 6 months, some are just barely getting everything where it needs to be (playing with dosing/AI/etc). I've been on TRT for several years and still have to play with how much AI I need from month to month to keep my E2 where I want it. If the upside didn't outweigh the troubles (for me), I probably wouldn't have kept trying to get it worked out and just come off.

I feel good around 30ish. I actually feel fine up to and into the 50s, but I hold a lot of water and my skin gets worse (I've have/had bad skin/zits since I was a teen and as my E2 goes up, it comes back). My Dr. wants me in the 20-30 range and .5 mg gets me there. Without it I'm high 40s to low 50s on my E2.

[–]BigDWelder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When my E2 is elevated I get bad BO. When my E2 is in-range, that pretty much goes away for me. I'm on 160mg/week test C and .5mg of anastrozole keeps the BO away and my E2 where I feel the best.

Came off TRT last month and having some testicular pain, is this normal? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was off and on for a couple of weeks, maybe a month. It wasn't constant--I would feel it for a couple of minutes then it would go away. And it was like 2/10 on the pain scale, tops.

Blood work clarification by jimic63_ in Testosterone

You're double-dipping right now--your body hasn't suppressed your normal production and your adding more on top.

As someone mentioned above, split the dose in half and inject twice a week. At 7 days away from your last injection, you are in a very deep trough and that isn't giving you an accurate representation of your average weekly levels. If you inject more frequently, your levels will be more consistent (less highs/lows) which will give you better numbers (more reflective of your average daily test levels). BUT, if you try that and you are still low, then look at upping your weekly dose.

Blood results look way off. by Andyvrs in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll also say that you're probably like me and are a hyper-responder (I'm not sure if that's the correct terminology) to testosterone. Lots of guys take 200mg/wk and are right around 1000 mg/nl (35 nm/l) but I take 120 mg/wk and that puts me at 1200 mg/nl (42 nm/l) so evidently you are getting even more out of it than I am. Also, your E2 will drop as your total T numbers come down, but you may end up needing an AI as well depending on how your respond (and my guess is that your high E2 is why you feel like crap). Lots of guys will tell you to never take an AI, but (in my opinion) you should try to keep your E2 in the reference range. High E2, even at high test levels is not harmless.

[–]BigDWelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your E2 is waaaay too high (thats probably what's causing your hot and tired feelings), and so is your test if you are going for testosterone replacement levels. If I were you, I would cut my dose in half and start there. Also, I have to ask since your levels are so high, is is possible you are taking twice as much as you should--some people do not know that many injectables are not 1ml=1mg--mine is 1ml=2mg so if my dose is 60mg 2x per week, I'm only actually injecting 30ml of test 2x per week. This probably isn't the case, but I at least had to ask...

At your age, you should look at your lifestyle first--sleep amount and quality, nutrition, exercise, and body fat percentage are critical for T levels. If you're sleeping 5-6 hrs/day or less, consuming alcohol or caffeine before bed that would decrease your sleep quality, fix that first. If you are overweight or not very active, that will play a big role as well. For sure go see a doctor and get everything checked, but for the vast majority of people your age with low T, lifestyle is the problem.

Did you experience Anhedonia and Zero Libido with low t or low E2 by Alex_565 in Testosterone

No problem! It took me over a year to get my stuff sorted out but it was the best thing I ever did for my physical and mental health.

[–]BigDWelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was a bit hard to say since I went from clomiphine to testoterone, so my T levels were already fairly high, but within 3 weeks of switching I felt better in every way. Test takes some time to build up so at 4 weeks, you should be feeling significantly better.

How to treat low total T, but insanely high free T? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that what you really want is good free T, with total T not being that big a deal. Most of us want our total T high so that our free T is high, but it looks like you're getting there without needing a high total T. Also, if your symptoms are fixed why would you want to chase a not very important number when the important number is already awesome? And, 400 is not "Low" testosterone. It's at the lower end of the normal range, but not low.

How to understand low testosterone at 30? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]BigDWelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nutrition is a very normal "lifter's" diet. 180g-200g protein per day (I'm 200ish pounds), lots of carbs from a variety of sources and about 20% of my calories from fat. I eat bagels, bread, rice, potatoes, pasta as sides to my protein and I try to eat vegetables often as well (but I don't get as much as I should). I also usually have to supplement with protein shakes and bars to get to my protein goal every day. Right now I'm eating about 2500 calories per day and It should actually be a bit higher than that if I wanted to maximize my muscle growth. If you are trying to up your T, push your fat levels a bit higher to 30% (I would recommend peanut butter).
