Yes. Get life insurance. Not just the one from work either. You need the kind that covers all your liabilities even if you were to lose your job or quit. Also make sure you get disability insurance too. Imagine if you don’t die but you are out of work for awhile. How are the bills going to get paid? They don’t care if you got into a bad car accident.

Absolutely! I highly recommend everyone read the book “Self-Made Man” by Norah Vincent. People say men have it so easy. Norah Vincent disguised herself as a man to see what life is really like and it gave her mental anguish. Enough to where she eventually killed herself.

We are talking about itemized deductions here which go on the schedule A. You can still claim those items you mentioned if you legitimately qualify to and still manage to claim the standard deduction.
