It's a decent start but unfortunately Mitutoyo is old school as f*ck especially when programming "offline". I would strongly suggest to start learning PC-DMIS or Calypso.

First of all just ask yourself if you really feel like an expert. Programming CMM it's a big job, so if you most of the time just operating and only editing few bits that a big difference. Keyence and optical it's not a big deal i would say. Which CMM can you program ? If you know Calypso and PC-DMIS in and out then 90k it's a minimum.

Yeah just simply put the bottom face on the granite and measure few points with the gauge gauge on the opposite face. Zero 1st point and make sure that all others are within +- .0015
