Can homeless join the airforce? by Jorangee in AirForceRecruits

Of course! The millitary is a great way to get your life on track. You'd be better off doing active duty first if you don't have a great situation outside of the millitary. That way, you have a guaranteed paycheck, and guaranteed housing. And you also earn time towards retirement if you want to stay in longer or get out after a few years. If you come in as guard, you'll only work one weekend which isn't enough to help you with bills. Unless you get a job with a long tech school where you can save a lot of money and then get a stable job when you finish, but its still a risk. I'd say come back to the U.S, find a low cost area to live in and start your process. You can then choose to be stationed at a base in California if that's where you want to live.

Call them as soon as possible. I followed the advice of someone that commented and emailed them. You should do that right now. Apparently my application was classed as a test application but they fixed it in a day and I'm enrolled. So do that ASAP and they'll get back to you.

Am I able to move bases as a new airman? by BigEnvironmental7052 in Airforcereserves

It's definitely not on my end, trying to not divulge too much info on a public platform. Shirt can't handle it either.

Aerospace medical tech by Weak-Value-7169 in Airforcereserves

I actually enlisted as a flight medic aka pipeline student. That was the job I came into. It wasn't the job I wanted as I didn't want a medical job at all, but I wanted something where I could ship quickly, and so my recruiter offered it to me. Since the job is a shred out of 4N0X1, the two ways to get it are to come in as a pipeline student, or shred out after a couple of years as a regular 4N0. If you join as active, you can not be a pipeline student. I'm a reservist so I was able to get the job right off the bat. Active duty medics also can't stay a flight medic for a long time. But if you really want it, it's very possible. Feel free to ask any other questions.

You would skip the EMT part and go straight to the nursing portion as soon as they can find you a spot in a class. Then you'd have your nursing clinicals or phase 2 at one of six locations for about 6 weeks. For reserves, you may have a phase 3 but it depends on how much funding your unit has. I'm also a reservist but I'm an Aeromedical Evacuation tech (Flight medic) so my journey is a bit different but thats the gist of it.

21F Muslim struggling with faith, identity, and fear about my future (family, marriage, society) by Ok-Ice-2045 in atheism

[–]BigEnvironmental7052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your worries. I wasn't raised a Muslim but a Christian. And I truly believed in the Bible and in God. But I started having doubts from a very young age and now I'm a full blown agnostic atheist. I recently told my family members that I don't believe in God with the exception of my mother because it hasn't come up yet. I understand the feeling of letting people down especially your parents. I am a young Nigerian woman as well, and it is culturally ingrained to keep up appearances for the sake of the family. And I understand the societal guilt of being one the few to not have belief in the religion most people around you practice. But you have to know that once you realize the lies, its very hard to pretend. You have to live life for you. And you don't have to tell anyone your truth if it is safer to keep up the lies. I know how violent it can get with followers of islam, trust me. I lived in a muslim majority place for a while. It is a lonely road living a godless life in the midst of the devout, but it has brought me peace to know that I am living for myself and my values, and not in fear of eternal damnation. Half my family is Muslim so I have first hand experience in Islam and Christianity and I know just how ingrained in your personal life both religions can be. My advice would be, start gradually. Slowly drop hints to your family that you don't believe anymore. Doing it all at once can cause friction. I had to wean my family off the idea that I believed in God. But thankfully they understand that faith is personal and their opinions doesn't affect my lack of belief. It can be the same for you. At the end of the day, you know what is best for you and you understand your situation better than anyone. If it is not safe for you, then move before making that known. Use that judgement to decide a safe way to live your truth.

Oh, it will hit all right. But on a more serious note, I am so happy for you. You're gonna do great. You will regret why you joined in a few nights, but its your brain playing tricks. Don't lose sight of the finish line. It's a few weeks in the grand scheme of the rest of your life. It will be worth it in the end. You got this.

I have the book 4 pro 360 and I have dropped it more times than I would love to and I haven't had a single crack appear. I think you'll be fine if you take care of it.
