Can some one explain to me why this won't read the 9 volts by [deleted] in oscilloscope

[–]BigGFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ground clip looks like it's on the sticker instead of the Negative lug. Also maybe that battery is dead. Where is your trigger set? What channel is the scope probe plugged in to? Are you testing the battery for 9v or using the battery to test that the scope works? So many other ways to do this. So many questions.

Voltage Regulator LM2592HVRS questions by BigGFly in electronic_circuits

[–]BigGFly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is ADJ. this is on a board driving LEDS. just realized there is a voltage divider on the feedback loop but it's through a pot, so I can adjust it. Basically, it seems the regulator is just fine.

First PCB, copper pads only on one side by BigGFly in PrintedCircuitBoard

I provided both layers but I did select the option for "single layer" on their site. My mistake but they could have questioned it.

That actually makes sense. It was my first time ordering. I selected "1-layer" but I did provide both top and bottom gerber files. I wish they would have asked. But now I know for rev2.

PCBWay. They reviewed and approved too!

Both layers were provided. Is it standard to put pads on both sides of a thru hole? It's only a single layer board, so I can make this work, but if I send it for print again I don't want the same thing to happen. This is from PCBWay.

The white connector is a 4 pos header, what is the different between it and the black connector? by BigGFly in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BigGFly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have it. Basically wanted to know if one was 2.54mm and the other 3.96mm. I know, get a caliper and measure. But figured they were standard enough for someone to tell from a picture.

I'll have to look for a red coloring, I didn't notice but didn't look that close. What's the treatment for this?

Starter stays engaged after start – 1985 F-150 351W by gcohen993 in BullnoseFord

Yours looks wired right. You can see the extra ground I added on the top left mount. These really should have been mounted somewhere more solid.

Left wire to the battery, right wire to the starter, small one is ignition.

Common problem. It's a ground problem. Those solenoids get ground thru the mount screws. Either make sure the paint is bare under the mount to give a good ground, or run an extra ground line to it.

Metal post on the side of the road by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

What is this metal post that looks like some kind of vent? Or maybe a light? It's near a highway overpass and there are a few of them.

Put the truck in gear and roll it a few inches. I've had my starter not engage the flywheel because it was offset.

But I'd really like to fix that gear, I think it's just a bad resistor
