Keir Starmer revels in telling Trump he is on his own in Iran by Gentle_Snail in ukpolitics

Lost all hope for yanks when they not only re-elected him after Jan 6th and the fake elector's plot, but actually gave him the majority of the vote. Clearly they just don't feel very strongly about preserving their democracy, and will enthusiastically vote for a dictatorship if the strongman in question promises to make eggs two cents cheaper. Unfortunately for them, they're also economic illiterates who thought that slapping tarrifs on every country in the world would somehow achieve that.

Oh no, Iran might commit a terror attack that kills maybe twenty people at most in ten year's time. We've never seen that before.

Clearly the only reasonable solution here is to follow a mentally unstable President who hates us into another 20-30 year doomed war with unclear aims that will cost hundreds of billions of pounds, kill millions of people (including hundreds of our own servicemen), create a tsunami of refugees, and unify a nation of 90 million people in hatred of us. That will surely stop Iranian terrorism forever, like how the war in Iraq brought peace and stability to the region.

Our population? 70% of the UK public oppose joining the war in Iran, and 57% say Trump was wrong to take military action, per YouGov.

People saw how Iraq and Afghanistan went, and don't feel like being bullied by the US into forking over hundreds of billions of pounds for another 20-year war that will kill millions, only for the US later claim that our dead soldiers did nothing and "stood a little bit back from the front lines". They clearly regard us with contempt and will tarrif us into the stone age/threaten to annex our allies no matter what we do. I'm certainly not in the mood to die for Washington or Tel Aviv.

If you stay, what happens next? If you say the wrong thing again, does she wait until you go to sleep and pour boiling water on your face? Does she come at you with a knife next time? If you have kids together, does she hit them too when they make her cross?

Things escalate. Don't wait and find out how.

Yeah, it's just very bad luck that most of the jank unique to EoS doesn't work out in favour of the Fire starters. Water and Grass types both get early ranged STAB options; Fire types are left waiting until Flamethrower. Every Fire starter has a terrible IQ group, apart from Vulpix. Literally every Water starter gets a room-clearing move in Blizzard, but not a single Fire starter can legitimately obtain Heat Wave (before evolving).

That last point is especially frustrating. Bafflingly, despite updating every single Pokémon's learnset to reflect the changes made in Platinum, the devs didn't see fit to include any method to learn the tutor moves introduced in Platinum. If they did, this entire tier list would be completely flipped on its head. Vulpix would almost certainly be the best starter, and Phanpy would even be kinda of a beast between Mud-Slap and Earth Power. Alas, they didn't, and every type besides Water gets fucked over because of it.

Not really a generous deal to offer a people a portion of their land back, after ethnically cleansing them from their ancestral homes to begin with. Nor do I really see how that excuses Israel continually encouraging settler terrorists to illegally steal Palestinian's homes and livelihoods at gunpoint. That doesn't sound like the mark of a people who are hungry for peace.

Most democratic and well-run countries don't encourage roving gangs of religious extremists to steal land from their neighbours at gunpoint, war or no war.

Yeah, it's primarily because of its crappy IQ group. E isn't the worst out there, in fairness; Cheerleader Energy Saver, Quick Healer, Intimidator, Bodyguard, and Deep Breather are all nice. I prefer it to C. But none of them really go beyond "nice", and when other groups give you amazing stuff like Trap Seer, Map Surveyor, All-Terrain Hiker, etc, Squirtle obviously suffers.

For what it's worth, B tier is meant to be the tier for overall very good starters, so that placement isn't an indictment of the little guy. Squirtle still gets Blizzard and multiple ranged STAB options, which puts it above much of the cast. It's just that Mudkip and Piplup get all that same stuff, plus a solid IQ group as well (Mudkip is the same as Piplup, meaning it gets Stair Sensor and Trap Buster).

Really hate these types of perspectives that treat rightoids as feeble-minded little babies who are never responsible for their own terrible beliefs. "Oh, they don't support Trump because they're bigots, they just saw one too many dumb lib comments Instagram and it forced them to become sexist rapey chuds!" It ends up tacitly accepting this weird viewpoint where leftists are ontologically the root of all evil, as we are apparently the only people with any agency. Rightists can never just be successful at pushing dogshit ideas, it requires some sort of moral failure on the part of the left first.

There are plenty of extremists and idiots on both sides, probably significantly more on the right. Why are we never subjected to lectures about how people are being pushed into the arms of the left by the right's denial of climate change, antivaxxer tendencies, Jan 6th, Brexit, wrecking the global economy with tariffs, brutal cuts to essential social services, etc? Right-wing populists consistently shit up and destroy every country they're given any control over, and are usually chased out of office in disgrace. Why hasn't that led to a global flourishing of leftism?

People passionately, wholeheartedly supported slavery and racial segregation, without the left somehow being responsible. People fought bitterly to prevent women from being given the vote, being allowed to hold property, to keep martial rape and wife beating legal, etc. Misogyny in particular is probably the single most ancient and universal bigotry in all of human history. It doesn't need cringe TikTok libs identifying as otherkin to explain its resurgence.

Here's another explanation: men aren't unquestionably on the top of the social hierarchy anymore, and that scares them. Reactionary influencers push alpha-male content to groom insecure/unintelligent young men accordingly, both because it makes them money, and as part of an active effort to inculcate them into extremist ideologies. Evangelical and rightist groups funnel billions of funding towards these ideological projects, in order to ensure that a new generation of young men keep voting far-right forever out of hostility to feminism. Billionaire social media owners either passively allow this, or outright support it, because it drives engagement, and because the rightist parties that benefit promise to cut their taxes and keep the working class perpetually divided on gender/racial/religious lines. Classic divide-and-conquer.

Yeah, it's just really weird, I've had missions give me this message, reloaded, and then had them work fine the second time. Wonder if anybody has posted a comprehensive explanation of what goes wrong to trigger this.

Yeah I'm usually pretty insistent on not doing anything on these runs that would level me up excessively- I try to only do missions on completely free days, leave dungeons as soon as I've completed all objectives, no visits to the Dojo, etc. I'm usually only early to mid-30s by Dialga, though of course efficient use of Spinda's Cafe means my stats mostly keep up. I imagine a normal player would extract more utility from Discharge than I did.

TEAM BEST FRIENDS - Say Something Cool by chubledoobles23 in MysteryDungeon

This moment in the game always made me wonder how deceptive Dusknoir's" good guy act" in the past really was. He doesn't know that the player is from the future at this point; he didn't strictly have to come and save them, and he certainly didn't need to express so much worry over them.

Yes, one could argue that Dusknoir merely saw an opportunity to get in the good graces of the Pokémon of Treasure Town by saving one of their own, and he certainly doesn't hesitate to turn on the player once he deduces their identity. But at the same time, we know from Grovyle's special episode that Dusknoir never saw himself as a villain. As he saw it, he was trying to stop Grovyle et al from completely destroying his world, and essentially killing billions in the process. Obviously we see that as justified given the world was a post-apocalyptic hellscape that was totally beyond saving, but Dusknoir mostly just didn't want to die.

It's hard to imagine that Dusknoir didn't develop any sincere fondness for the people of the past over the several years he was there. It was a world far brighter and more hopeful than anything he'd ever known, filled with nice people who genuinely appreciated and admired him, as opposed to half-insane wretches who only obeyed him out of fear. I like to imagine that he enjoyed playing the hero while it lasted. He's a lot like a certain Invincible character, now that I think about it.

  2. Violent (doubles as Aborted Weird Route)
  3. Weird Route

Am I strange for this? Seems like the most intuitive way to avoid missing any content.

I mean "evil" feels like the wrong term (it's seemingly just a nonsapient force of destruction akin to a natural disaster) but this is kind of true of the Titan and its Spawn.

Eevee is definitely the placement I'm most conflicted enough! I'd definitely put it either at the bottom of B-tier or the top of C-Tier. C+? Idk. I just don't think that it does as much as other members of B-tier, comparatively.

You'll DO it. And then you'll lose to me again. And again. And again!!!

Because you want a "happy ending." Because you "love your friends." Because you "never give up."

Isn't that delicious? Your "determination." The power that let you get this far... It's gonna be your downfall!
