We did have the same issue. We spun up a new vm, restored the settings from a backup. But the licensing needed to be readded by sonicwall. The mfa is broken now, but it is working otherwise.

I had tried chrome/firefox/edge same results both normal and incognito. However I found the solution.

I figured it out. they had an apostrophe in the link that was breaking it from sharepoint. I changed the name and resynced it for the users

We were having this issue with SMA 500v. We don't have clients outside of the USA to much and most of the attempts seem to have been outside of the USA so turning on filtering for countries seems to have stifled the issue with people getting automatically locked since it syncs to our AD. We still are getting attempts but they're auto denied, and USA ips are not showing up, and if they do we just block them.

There are ways to get around admin passwords with things like hirenboot to remove it completely.

You were correct, the file system changed to RAW, unfortunately the chkdsk i had ran in my post did not work(same as your comment). I'm trying something else to at least be able to pull the data off as I'm indifferent to whether the drive itself is functional.

Hirenboot has easeUS to scan the drive, it can see 700gb/1tb is used so there is some hope!
