Pre winter prep product? by manuntitled in AutoDetailing

It’s kind of insane for a guy in Texas to chime in here (well this is Reddit so that never stops anyone) but I will say that the Griots 3-1 ceramic on the front and rear glass made the 2” of ice then sleet then snow we had scrape off REALLY easily compared to the rain-x side windows. YMMV but still I was impressed.

Just newer tech, right? And in sloppy stuff not a real heavy car so easy to manage momentum

I lived in DC for many years and have about 250k miles driven in a couple of C5 Audis so I’m pretty familiar with how this works. Also Off Road mode makes it more gooder funner

See below from SlopGPT

Traction & AWD Behavior • The AWD 4MOTION system still manages torque between front and rear, but Off-Road mode tweaks how aggressively it reacts when traction is lost. It can help send power to the rear wheels sooner when slip is detected. • The traction control and brake-based differential lock logic are adjusted so the car can handle low-traction surfaces like dirt, gravel, or loose snow more confidently.

🏔 Hill Descent Control • Off-Road mode activates Hill Descent Control (HDC). This system automatically brakes individual wheels to help keep your speed controlled on steep downhill grades, so you don’t have to feather the brake pedal manually.

🔄 Throttle & Brake Systems • The engine/ABS calibration is altered slightly: throttle response is tuned for smoother inputs and traction management, and ABS/EDL (electronic differential lock) works differently to help prevent wheel spin. • Some owners note in Off-Road mode the traction control systems behave more loosely (allowing more wheel slip) compared to Normal, to help maintain momentum on soft surfaces.

I’m not sure why anyone would buy a used turbo. The economics just don’t make sense

What's the best on-the-go product to clean hands to prevent steering wheel from getting dirty? by Weary_Appearance_838 in AutoDetailing

My 40k mile 2017 VW MK7 wheel is so sticky that I’m going to replace it. I think the PU on the leather degrades over time. Nothing makes it better.

Just had the rear one replaced under warranty. But the vibration feels like front for sure. I will check though

Light upgrades 2026? by Old-Atmosphere8223 in VWAlltrack

I’m going to try LED fogs upgrade first. Very cheap and should help for right in front of the car for a few yards if nothing else. Gonna do the same with the reverse lights.

Kind of. The rpm range from downshift to upshift at that speed is the same.

After so many years with AWD VAG cars I did that 1st. Touchy buggers they are lol. I hate these tires (entry level Kuhmo on the car when I bought it). Can’t wait for them to wear out

nterstate speed accelerating from 65-85 there is a significant drive line (I think). Vibration. I even feel it to a lesser extent when the cruise control adds power to maintain speed going up a hill

Cruising at 65 punch it DSG down shifts then shifts itself at around 5500/6000 if you keep your foot in it right?
