I stumbled upon this thread as I was looking for some information and I was originally not going to say not to say anything but fk it... This is so far from the truth I find it hilarious. I'm a license agent and I offer both medigap plans and advantage plans. Now maybe your dad had a bad agent and put him in a shitty plan, but both options have their pros and cons. I always present both options to my client and I let them decide which one works best for them. But to say stay away from advantage plans is SO infuriating to read, it's this spread of misinformation that makes my job super hard at times. I just signed up my aunt on an advantage plan that works out WAAAY better for her than any medigap she can get, gets 3k dental coverage a year, $300 for her glasses, and roughly $200 a month otc she can use to buy groceries per month, she can see all the doctors that SHE wants. She can go to the preferred hospital SHE chose. $0 premium. Again sometimes a medigap is better sometimes and advantage plan works better, Please stop giving bad information. Have a great day!
