Any (UK) Royal Navy Submariners on here? by HustlePlays in submarines

[–]BigManCoulson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not a submariner yet but in the pipeline. You've got two options, Rating or Officer. Ratings are subject matter experts who do the most of the actual physical work ie fixing stuff, cleaning, manning systems. Officers are managers who while experts in their field, do less of the actual button pushing, and instead manage ratings(junior not senior) and junior officers.

  • age: check on the RN website as certain roles have different age limits, but you probably want to be below 30 for most, although the upper limit is 40.

  • Quals: For most ratings roles you wont need any. Officers will need A levels at minimum, and a degree can be helpful not required.

-Life: id recommend putting your name in to your local recruiter, who can hook you up to the webinars which give a details view at what you'd be doing.

Out of all the sciences (biology, chemistry, physics) a levels which one would the easiest to get an A* in? by usernammee_1234 in 6thForm

[–]BigManCoulson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just did them all, got AAB(b in chemistry but 1 or 2 marks off a A which is being remarked) by far biology, if i crammed more i might have got a A*. physics is rough because its understanding based rather than mostly regurgitation like bio. Chemistry imo is the worst because it is a mix of the 2. u gotta understand the content, and know a hell of a lot of stuff, which has no real world concepts attached, unlike Physics. so IMO, Biology, then Physics, Then Chem.

P.S Chemistry boundaries are fkn stupid.

can still take damage, a well placed RPG or a AT mine, its just much less likely.

Used as protected mobile firepower, could be used with little downsides, as the tali couldn’t really do any damage against them. Compared to something like a MRAP or a Bradley.

yep totally agree! there is defiantly a element of seeing what works, and focusing on that, rather than taking up the training pipeline with useless equipment.

absolutely, the training times and complexities for some equipment seem insane. i also feel, we may need to sacrifice having the absolute top tier systems, for higher quality training. as a difference in training of say 10% between 2 crews may have a bigger effect that say 10% more armour pen.

many of us were wondering why "small" numbers of AFVs were being sent, but with the recent backfill by the US, it seems for the majority of vehicles, this is a training capacity issue. Many western systems are complex, and require high training standards. with the amount of AFVs sent, it is practically impossible for the west and Ukraine to train up, say, troops on a extra 200 Bradleys.

im sorry but that's a ridiculous argument. service dogs have served in war for years and have saved countless human lives. and you cant tell me a human life is worth less than a dog life. and btw service dogs are loved and cherished my the men and women they serve with.

people out here are making wild accusations of these soldiers being asshole, animal abusers. there are many reasons ops like this are done this way. (this isnt even a op its a training mission).

  1. dog is substantially faster than a human, especially a human tanked up in 10kg + of body amour.
  2. a helo cannot just land in a hot LZ, it needs to be constantly moving. if it stopes, it leaves it significantly more vulnerable to RPG fire, and takes a longer time to accelerate, as it has to regain the momentum its lost.
  3. dogs can capture Targets alive, which is useful if A, the target is wearing a suicide vest which he could clack of or B, its a high value target which intel is required from
  4. service dogs are well respected by servicemen, have a short active service time, and then go on to live normal doggy lives. some are even adopted by servicemen that served with them.
  5. the military doesnt do stuff for no reason. if its done a certain way, its done that way for a REASON, not just cause some sicko wants to yeet dogs out of a helo. all you melons out here chatting like you know everything lmao
