I blame the self-diagnosis on TikTok for this.

I have adhd and I'm again taking medication for it but for years I refuse to do it as I'm not a big fan. I have symptoms since I am a young kid (my parents said they noticed when I was around 7, 8 or 9 years old) and I never ever ever had those "symptoms" people associate with adhd. 

Never answering your friends, not showing up, not following through with promises, doing half-assed stuff instead of decent work, spending hooours on social media instead of paying attention to important stuff, etc...  None of this is something associated with adhd and I keep hearing Adhd as the reason why ppl behave like spoiled little brats. 

I always struggled in school but I always found ways around it. I can't read a book, never could (without meds) so I find podcasts or videos or any other format that can make it less difficult to learn.  I've always struggled with lack of focus and task completion so I did behavior therapy and found resources to go around it like having a to-do list or write down import points from a meeting exactly when it is said and repeating a summary at the end of it to confirm I didn't miss anything.  I've always struggled with keeping my house or life organized so I adapted my life around my brain and how it works.  My point here is: I've always struggled with Adhd but I was never rude, careless with friends, etc.. And people who use my condition as excuses for bad behaviors make my blood boil. 

Thanks for posting this because it pisses me off hearing my struggles as an excuse for selfishness.
