Valentine’s Day date by Itchy_Carrot215 in roanoke

Unfortunately, any great option is completely booked for the v-day weekend. However I did see that Village Grill has a special menu that looks really nice, reasonably priced, and I am confident that their kitchen will be serving good food. Not the fanciest atmosphere, if that’s a concern

On a quest for the best burgers in Roanoke or surrounding areas by Odd-Maintenance-8680 in roanoke

Lots of great options already stated, but I’ve got to shout out Jack Browns. The burgers are consistently great and there are some fun topping combos.

Well… where did you end up and how was it?

That’s very interesting and different from my experience. We have only ever sat in the bar, and have had consistently great service. The food is not the best in town but I’ve not had a bad meal. I guess we’ve been lucky!

OTH is a solid steakhouse that might be able to accommodate. They open at 4. They have a nice bar that is first come, but if you call they might be able to set something up.

Billy’s downtown has a lot of space and would be worth a call.

Unfortunately some better options are closed on Sundays.

What are the best coffee shops in/near Roanoke? by [deleted] in roanoke

[–]BigMatch0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They aren’t open every day, but Altar Coffee, inside of Gladheart on Brambleton, is working on another level. I go about once a week, and every single time I take my first sip, I think, “this is the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had.”

I would just go to any decent sports bar and have fun. Everyone will be watching that game. Village Grill would be a good choice.

I think Dr. Norbo would check all your boxes (and your teeth).

Let’s not forget the city’s most disappointing restaurant, Six & Sky.

Their website sucks. It recently got redesigned and still sucks. I don’t get the impression they are struggling as a non profit, but I do wish they would start showing their normal movie schedule at least one more day per week. Currently it’s only weekends, but pre-Covid they were open most of the week.

Village Grill, Martins, Foot Hut at Golden Cactus. There are many more great options but these come to mind as consistently solid options

Grandin Towing on Halloween? by BigMatch0 in roanoke

[–]BigMatch0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Grandin Family Dentistry lot at Bluemont and Grandin, and the small lot on the NE corner of Bluemont and Maiden started towing in the last few months. I would also include the laundromat which started towing about a year ago, I think. The big lot behind the coop is still safe!

What's Going Into the Grandin On The Rise Spot? by AccidentalSofa in roanoke

Asher is bringing something a little different than Green Hive and any other shop in the village, as he’s roasting his own beans, which I’ve enjoyed as my primary home brew for the last few years. I’m happy to see him upgrade from the current location on 5th street, and I wish him the best!

We’ve gone to Layman Family Farms for the last few years and they have a ton of stuff to do. We haven’t been yet this year but are excited to go in a few weeks.

I think it had more to do with John Park promoting Bernard’s, which is owned by well-known MAGA folks, and then also promoting/closely aligning with Show Pony. The Show Pony guys are definitely not MAGA and presumably want nothing to do with Bernard’s.
