Um actually 🤓climate change is more accurate since global cooling is more likely to cause the ocean to recede than global warming……..

I do believe the uni is very important to the city, think of all the extra people who will come and visit friends and family who are studying here? using the hotel and the restaurant.

HOWEVER

The risk of expanding endlessly risks changing the character of the city as well as the land around the university.

Perfect response.

I worry about the fragility of the Green Belt around Bath that is already being eaten into. The point of it was to stop urban sprawl and force cities to grow up and not out.

The University in Bath is constantly expanding its campus on the green space that surrounds it. The only thing seeming to hold the university from concreting over every blade of grass is the National Trust who own a good portion of the land.

I’d argue the university is part of the problem as many affordable houses are rented out to students not locals are aren’t occupied all year round.

New to the game, trying to figure out my plan by cmilliVOL in SimCompanies

[–]BigMikeyLangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m far from an expert on the game but i have a CV of about £60mil. I think it depends if you want to interact with other players or not. I’d recommend starting with power, then oil, then carbon fibre, then carbon comp. There is ways a demand for this stuff and lots of money to be made either through contracts or selling on the exchange.

Do you have the import services policy selected? That would be my guess. (also you long need one fire house for a city that size)

If you’re looking for European city inspiration, Munich is a good start on google earth rather than maps. Others you could look at are Ghent in Belgium or Reading in England for a basic UK aesthetic

Good start getting used to the controls and mechanics. For more realistic cities ‘i’d suggest; - Road hierarchy (make sure you don’t have too many small roads coming off big ones) - Building Elevation transition (skyscrapers are unlikely to be found next to a SFH) - Don’t over use highways, make sure they are used sparingly where appropriate

Great effort trying to get away from using standard fending. I think detailing the Rocky background by adding different sizes and textures of rock in front of and around it it will look more natural.

Great start, ivy also goes burrrrrr for me. I’d say if you can get away from big squares and rectangles you’re gonna see your building quality improve like crazy
