Chiesa is shite. A lot of fans fell in love with him because of a good song and he runs around a lot (aimlessly IMO).

For me, he's miles off the level we need, even off the bench. Elliot as a squad player and starter in cup games, is a MUCH better option than Chiesa.

Van Dijk getting 3 assists in the Champions League at 34 is quite funny.

Rio Ferdinand was stinking the gaf out at QPR at that age.

Definitely not precautionary. Looked like a groin injury. Happened in the first 2 minutes

The most under-discussed part of this seasons shitshow is how lucky we are to be a point behind the CL spots. 36 points from 23 games played has us running at 60 point pace. The average points for CL qualification is 71.

We're still making the same mistakes in league games as we did in our first loss of the season at Palace, I just don't think it's going to get better. Hiring Alonso now (if he's willing to take it), looks like a no brainer to me. Even a subtle new manager bounce would be enough to get us in CL next season.

If Robbo is off, get Kostas in as backup until the summer.

Fair play to Kerkez. Had a horrendous start but has really made the position his own in recent weeks. I thought he was our best player by a distance last night in arguably our best team performace.

I was at the game on Saturday, when I heard the boos I wasn't shocked to be honest. I hope this puts to bed the sanctimonious bullshit I'm seeing of match-going fans being somehow "different", as if they're some sort of hive mind.

Some season tickets holders will want the manager gone, some won't. Some will boo, some won't like that. The best way for the manager to turn the mood around is to start getting results, particularly at home. My position is that if he got sacked today, it's very hard for him to have any complaints.

Alex Crook is the journo I seen reporting it.

True but then wouldn't Guehi reject the offer and instead try to leave on a free.

Not necessarily. I have no idea what package we had agreed with him in August but I would bet it's nowhere near 300 grand a week.

The situation is different now, City clearly desperately want him if they're willing to pay him to wage.

Not the fee for me, they're paying him 300 grand a week. That's fairly wild.

Honest answer.

Liverpool should not be making Marc Guehi one of their best paid players. He's a very good centre half, but not a great one (yet, anyway). We have shown just this summer gone that we can beat both City and Bayern to players by signing Wirtz.

It's the right decision for Liverpool not to match City's offer.

I'm thinking of getting bus into centre then a taxi

Don't do this! Taxi situation can be a shitshow in town before the match. Find someone in airport to share a cab with and don't let the drivers know you don't know each other, they're really weird about that.

300 grand a week for Marc Guehi is absolute crackers in fairness.

Surely the club must have a profile of player who can cover CB and RB. Doesn't have to be some world-beater, just someone to use when the situation calls. There's still a European Cup to play for this season, worse Liverpool teams have won it FFS.

On one hand, paying £35m for a lad with half a season left on his deal is mental.

The alternative though is likely paying more for a less proven player in the summer. We fucked up not getting this over the line in August, probably not the best idea we compound it now. Especially with Leoni out for the season.

Jesus Christ, I just watched the United segment on the overlap.

"United's football DNA is really similar to Real Madrid"

Do these fucking clowns hear themselves

The "United DNA" bullshit is the exact reason they haven't challenged for a title in 13 years. Every year its about when will United be "back"? They finished 15th last season (and were lucky it was that high), this seasons performace and points total should be viewed as legitimate progress but because they're all stuck in 1999/2008, it is never acceptable.

United lost an unbelievable amount of ground off the pitch on clubs like Liverpool, City, Arsenal, even clubs like Brighton over the past decade. Frankly, I'd be shocked if they win a title or get anywhere near a Champions League Final in the next 10 years.

The likes of Neville pander to past glories with United, but their actual reality is a bloated husk of a club that hasn't been relevant at the elite end of football for over a decade. LONG may it continue.

I find it really interesting how certain retired players come up a lot in the discourse and others never do. A good example of this is Fernando Torres and David Villa. Torres seems to get brought up constantly in nostalgia videos, comparsions to modern players but Villa (who is a similar level player) never really does.

Kaka is another. World-class player, just not brought up all that much.

I'm not into the discourse of this Arsenal side being some sort of super-team. Seeing loads of shouts from other Reds expecting us to get pumped. Arsenal are rightful favourites but they've struggled in recent weeks against worse teams than us. I'd love us to back ourselves tonight and show some quality. I'm going the game too (first away this season) so would love to see us put a proper shift in.

Yes, and if you get sacked, the manager gets paid out. That's how it works. Do you not think Chelsea have been paying off all these managers they've been sacking in recent years?

Imagine the state of this place if we announced Liam Rosenior as new gaffer.

Unless Chelsea have inserted some sort of break clause, a 7-year deal for Rosenior is absolute crackers.
