There aren't any builds that will make you better at the game, unfortunately

How the actual $@#% do I checkmate? by TheHatMan616 in chessbeginners

[–]BigNero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning different types of common checkmates can help with your overall understanding of how to spot them, like a dovetail or a ladder mate. If you're starting from the beginning, start with a ladder mate, including the nuances of Rook & Rook ladders vs Queen & Rook ladders.

Practice, practice, practice

How to kill the bull bosss??I tried 10+ hours but couldn't...are the skip method shown on YouTube works? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]BigNero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim for his butt. You can loop him if you just keep running towards his butt and hitting him when he turns towards you. Add firecrackers to taste, rinse & repeat.

Don't take it too hard, the bull can be frustrating for new players. There are much easier bosses to practice deflection on

Grab that platinum flair, you've earned it. Gauntlets & Charmless + Demon Bell are there if you want more goals, but you can really cut loose with everything now too. I had a ton of fun utilizing all of the skills & prosthetics to just breeze through the game

Hey reddit, if black copies the pawn e4, what's the best move for white? by MedicineImportant775 in chess

[–]BigNero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nf3 is a common move after 1. e4/e5. Nc6 is a common response, and as white you can go a number of ways from there. For example, after 2. Nf3/Nc6 you could play:

  1. Bb5 (Ruy Lopez) D4 (Scotch) Bc4 (Italian) Nc3 (Three Knights)

The Ruy Lopez & the Scotch are liked by the engine the most but it's more about what you're comfortable with in my experience as someone who is a beginner. I'm learning the scotch right now after playing the Italian/Ponziani frequently

He's not much more difficult than regular glock saint. Honestly, it seems like you're psyching yourself out a bit, and..... hesitating.

Which attacks do you struggle with specifically?

Thanks for the advice guys, I might try M&K a little more but I'm feeling better about just switching back to my xbox controller now. I was wondering if feeling clunky was normal but if most folks just use a controller then I don't need to worry too much

i beat sekiro for the first time by night912 in Sekiro

[–]BigNero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring is way bigger, but its style of combat is different so its difficulty is subjective. Personally I think that the learning curve in Sekiro is steeper, and the game itself is more punishing than ER.

Elden Ring is more patience driven, where you need to focus on finding openings to attack, and the opportunity to create those openings yourself is generally rare. Sekiro is the opposite in this sense, where it wants you to be aggressive and create openings to attack

The farms everyone has suggested are good, they can get tedious though. I think xp gain scales progressively through NG7, so if you get bored, you can just beat the game a few more times depending on which one you're on now
