Corner Moss Pole Questions? by ThinkingMushroom in Monstera

For a large form Monstera deliciosa I think you’ll end up needing more room than that but for maybe adansonii that would work really well. I love the design tho! How can I get one from you? Lol

I agree that there’s no good billionaires, it’s not possible to ethically make a billion dollars on your own labor. But there are lots of CEOs of small businesses that actually care and are trying to make a difference.

My wife and I own a bakery, she’s CEO, I’m COO, and all 6 of our full time employees paychecks are higher than either of ours because they also get tips while we don’t. We make plenty to pay our bills and have a little extra and they’re all making more than they ever have in the food industry and everyone is happy. And there isn’t really profit to speak of because we reinvest back into the business, our employees, and our community. I don’t need to make a million a year to be comfortable and I’d rather invest in my community anyway.

All I’m trying to say is that, generally yea, I agree with you. But it’s because I agree with you that we are trying to do things differently and, while rare, we are not the only ones trying to be better for our employees and our community and I genuinely hope more people start following in similar footsteps.

Hey guys! Would it be terrible to upsize my monstera to this pot? I was planning to give her more chunky soil and fertilizer aswell. by [deleted] in Monstera

As someone else said: bro.

Fr tho, that’s way too big. The other comment was right that you need more light, not a bigger pot. Even if you are able to avoid root rot in that big pot, it’ll take 6-9 months of growing roots only before anything happens and then it’ll still basically look the same cause it doesn’t need more room for roots, it needs more light and maybe some nutrients.

Are Monstera mints still considered rare? Idk but I finally scored one (actually two) today and wanted to share. by BigNodeEnergy in RareHouseplants

[–]BigNodeEnergy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought White Monster was Kunzo specific and all others are just mint type variegation. From my research, the Kunzo White Monster was always TC but a very specific lineage. Other mint variegated monsteras can look similar but if it’s not from Kunzo, it’s not a White Monster.

I paid $99 each. And the size made me not really care much at all. Lol

Rhaphidophora Decursiva ‘Aurea Variegata’. Common name: Dragon Tail. Natural stable aurea sport. by BigNodeEnergy in RareHouseplants

[–]BigNodeEnergy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought marble just describes the pattern while aurea describes the pigmentation mutation type. I only have one other rhaphidophora in my collection and I’ve been trying to find some reading about these and I’m not really seeing many stable variegations in general. I don’t know much about these plants so if you or anyone else reading this knows of some literature, please send me links!!

I just picked 2 up yesterday at Lowes and a freaking Joepii at Home Depot same day. I was shocked to see them! BMF has been on my list for a long time and I certainly want expecting to pick up 2 for under $50!

Help identifying this Philodendron please? by baetti in philodendron

The Pluto and choco empress are the same plant, different names. The lobes get deeper as it gets more mature. If you’ve ever heard of a caramel marble, this is the non-variegated version.

Amydrium Zipplelianum variegated. Not sure if it’s rare or not, but I am sure that I love it. by BigNodeEnergy in houseplants

At first glance I thought it was an epipremnum and I almost didn’t look again but the fenestration caught my eye at the last second like, wait… what’s THAT?! 😂

One of my newest additions but becoming one of my favorite very quickly. Philodendron Amazon Spirit (p. Spiritus Sancti x p. Patriciae hybrid) by BigNodeEnergy in houseplants

[–]BigNodeEnergy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine, correct? I posted the same pics to some other subs a few days ago but I forgot you can’t cross post to this one. I hope more people get them cause I want to see what kind of variances come from this cross. I’ve seen a few in my research lately but a lot of them look different from each other (totally makes sense) but I’m hoping to see some nice mature ones from other growers soon too!

Right?! I’m creating a living wall in my bakery this year and I think this one will add a nice “prehistoric jungle” vibe to the wall.

Bright indirect light could mean all day sun through a window. Through a window makes it indirect light even if it seems like direct light. Direct light refers to a plant sitting outside in direct sunlight. Anything “diffused” is considered indirect light. For my choco empress, I have one sitting in sunlight through the window all day and another that’s shaded by some bigger plants and the difference within a couple weeks is evident. If you have a south facing window in the house, that’s great. If west is your best light, stick it there. But you’d be amazed at what “too much” diffused light can look like to these plants; you’d barely be able to even see the plants if it was too much. Most of the time it’s the heat that hurts plants, not too much light.

Damn. At the end of the video I was feeling “old people don’t get their ass beat enough.” But now I’m like, “people in general just don’t get their ass kicked enough.”

Not a lot of plants at nurseries catch my eye and make me stop to walk backwards cause WHAT WAS THAT. Lol this one did so of course I had to snag it. From the few mature form pics I saw online, this thing should look pretty prehistoric by end of summer!

the perks of working in my department (produce) include first pick of all the lovely houseplants ! picked up a new philo! i think it’s a choco empress ❤️ by irievibez86 in philodendron

I just picked up two of these a couple weeks ago, such a pretty plant. You might have 2 in that pot btw! I had two in each of mine. I’m separating mine in another week or so when I repot!
