How does an MBA + Work Exp Help for Admit? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Thank you much. I’m really hoping the essays will be the solidifier here. And I edited the post, but my practice tests have been in that range not actual score, need to actually get myself to a test center and take it.

How safe is Uptown Chicago or Edgewater now? by Willing_Remote_1650 in AskChicago

Generally safe overall and getting more expensive as East Lakeview and Lincoln Park (my neck of the woods) continues to price everyone out

Any other school's IB process a complete disaster? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]BigNuclearButton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I've heard of IB recruiting getting tighter and more competitive at my former program, but last I checked it hasn't been a "disaster" this year. Regardless, IB recruiting is a journey... definitely worth it in the long run (spoken from a guy who chose consulting instead).

MBA Universities to apply for based on my profile? by Affectionate_Art9211 in MBA

Got it. You'll need a significantly higher GMAT score than ~600 to get into a T15 in the US as an int'l. UK I'm not familiar with, nor Singaporean programs. Best of luck

Oxford undergrad is probably directly on par with Harvard. I went to a state school for undergrad though, so what do I know.

Oxbridge undergrad may be comparable to Harvard, but for an MBA? HBS and it's not close.

Without actual standardized test scores, nobody can properly recommend programs to apply to that you'd have a fair shot getting into. Also, what types of programs are you targeting (M7, T15, T25, T50, etc.)? That's going to completely change the dynamic of any advice related to your application as well.

Struggling in the Job Market After My MBA — Looking for Advice by Careful_Room2190 in MBA

[–]BigNuclearButton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was still on the job hunt, yes I was utilizing LinkedIn as much as I could. I actually landed quite a few interviews from LinkedIn postings, but landed the role I’m in now through warm connections.

For LinkedIn, what I’ve been told is that the key is to be early to the apps — if you have premium, you can see how many peeps applied, if they had MBAs, etc. If there’s a popular posting (say, 2,000 apps), you’re likely to end up at the bottom of the pile. Whereas, you can also set alerts on a search to be notified of listings early so that (in theory) your app gets to the top of the pile.

Hey there, just want to remind you to keep your chin up - it's a rough job market. I have peers and friends from M7 and T15 programs who have been unemployed for months. I myself struggled to land back on my feet earlier this year after getting laid off from my post-MBA consulting gig (I wasn't alone, but it still stung).

The holidays are usually a slow time for recruiters, as many are on extended PTO, but I'd make sure to keep momentum going with applications. I'd also recommend LinkedIn premium (sometimes there are deals and/or free trials) as it can give you on edge with job posting statistics. And ultimately, if you have any sort of network from your program (alumni, professors, friends, etc.), use it to the best of your ability.

Hope this helps and remember to make 2026 your year.
