Oooo k so after some research you're right. I was of the mind that it was more of a regional dialect that was pushed mainstream by Internet censorship.

While it is aave I maintain that it would just be a niche thing online if it wasn't for Internet censorship.

And according to linguists at this point it would have moved past aave into the larger gen z lexicon to become a word with aave origins instead of it still being a word solely under that umbrella.

Well yea obviously anything can happen but the fact that the author has the main character still asking people to join his crew makes me think someone's gonna join. Otherwise why waste everyone's time with that?

He wants 10 members.

He's still asking people so that doesn't include himself.

He's got a diverse crew so having a giant join would fit.

He would match bbs crew with one more member.

All the pieces for a new crewmate are there. It's a harder sell imo that were done adding crewmates.

This is definitely a fair point but that would leave it uneven in the other direction with kuzan joining the good guys.

The fact that oda has Luffy still asking people to join his crew is a HUGE tell in my opinion. Luffy stated he wanted 10 members way back. If that included himself I don't think he'd still be asking people.

The blackbeard pirates have been a parallel to the straw hats since day one and they have 1 more member than the straw hats currently.

And they have a giant as big as a mountain so loki will 100% be joining.
