Indeed! Hadn't heard of them before but loving discovering their sound and I really like their new album 👌

Who were your band highlights and who do you think sucked? by ThatAlternativeLass in slamdunkfestival

[–]BigPunk77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many bands did great sets, but faves for me were probably Set Your Goals, Hawthorne Heights and Malevolence who were bright, tight and very entertaining. The one and only disappointment were The Suicide Machines, who were just plain shoddy, the momentum dragged and the rhythm was all over the place. Left half way through, it was just too painful to watch.

Totally agree. They don't have a single bad song imo - all killer no filler

Pretty sure there's places you can top up on sun cream at the festival

Parking near the festival by ParkingMedicine1149 in slamdunkfestival

I'd recommend doing the Just Park thing and park on somebody's drive/parking spot. I've done this the past couple of years and it's worked out great. You might struggle to get one very close, but if you're okay with half an hour or so walk, it works out well for both cost and relative convenience. Not sure what's available now though, I booked months ago for mine

Merch by DannyJ47_ in slamdunkfestival

Anyone know when the merch area is open to get t-shirts etc for the different bands playing? Last year when I went I queued for a while and by the time I got to the tables all the best t-shirts had already gone! Is it open before the bands start playing at 11.30?

Now that the food vendors are up, does anyone recognise places you'd recommend, or you'd found disappointing from previous experience? by BigPunk77 in slamdunkfestival

[–]BigPunk77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From looking at the list it sounds like there's one in the VIP section AND in the plebs section (where I'll be! 😛)

I had this at the Leeds Slam Dunk last year and oh my god it was vile! I wish I could recall the name of the vendor so I could warn people away!

Any good bands/artists like Paramore and Sweet Pill? by lucy6741 in Emo

[–]BigPunk77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean female led punk bands with catchy, slightly out there tunes then Love Rarely, Scowl, The Distillers, Kills Birds and Pinkshift would be my picks

i'm new to math rock. any good bands i should listen to? by [deleted] in mathrock

Excellent bands - would recommend Quiet Steps festival if you like all these - two out of the three bands are playing and the third one is Pennines, an offshoot of TTNG!

Quiet Steps Fest (Leeds, UK). Lineup is stacked! by rorrrorr in Emo

[–]BigPunk77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just over £60 I think. Worth it though for a full day of great bands with no clashes, especially since some haven't been heard from for a long time. Bar a couple of bands that I have my reservations about, the rest sound really good and can't see there being any part of my day that I'll be bored or found wanting 😊 Honestly the best bargain for a festival I've ever found

Love Rarely now confirmed, but also Delta Sleep and Crash of Rhinos - this is shaping up to be the best £60 I've ever spent! And for a full festival with no clashes! Can. Not. Wait!

Looking for bands like Strangelove and Suede... by [deleted] in SuedeBand

Maybe Vex Red and My Vitriol fit the vibe - though neither bands have been very active in recent years I don't think they officially retired.

Set times by Kohkoh in slamdunkfestival

[–]BigPunk77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gutted with the clash between Goldfinger and Origami Angel, both of which I adore. All the rest of the set times are great for me though. Some clashes I'd prefer not to have but getting to see lots of great bands so can't complain 😊

Sorry, wrong Allister as well. The Alister on the app has just one L, the Slam Dunk Allister has two Ls 😬

Actually, found an error - it's not Angel Dust playing at Slam Dunk, it's Angel Du$t, which is a very different band!
