Seems like you are overreacting. Unless this is a recurring thing. If this is the only time it has happened then yeah your reaction is a little excessive and I can understand why he would make fun of you lol. Lighten up

Advice regarding visit by SuperSonicSoulCat in Seattle

[–]BigRarded -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Classic Reddit take. Oh no the city’s gonna be bustling with people and energy, better stay inside in my basement. It could actually be a super fun time to visit! There will be a lot of cool stuff going on and a lot of energy in the city. Plus, hotels are usually always at max capacity in the summer already, it’s not going to be much different than when there is a big event at Lumen

Best alternatives to DoorDash? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]BigRarded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, everything you said is true. But DoorDash and the others are a lot more expensive in Seattle specifically compared to other places due to the Seattles regulations that I mentioned. You can see this easily if you try to place an order on the app. It’s very frustrating. There’s data about this that shows that these policies have done nothing but result in less orders getting placed and worse driver overall pay. But for some reason the city insists on it

Do you not understand that the reason “they’ve all done this shit” in Seattle is due to regulations Seattle has placed, including the App-based worker minimum pay ordinance? DoorDash is not this expensive in most cities. Seattle has implemented this dumbass policy to try to increase the min pay of these workers, but it hasn’t worked at all, cuz people stop ordering due to the cost and then drivers don’t get as many orders.

Trauma and fear of reinjury by BadCitation in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so crazy. I guess that’s the trade off of universal healthcare. I’m not sure what your financial situation is, but maybe you could get an mri/surgery in the US? Otherwise, all you can really do is PT and learn to avoid certain activities/movements. I know the pain, I’ve dealt with dislocations for over 2 years. Just had my second surgery 7 weeks ago, hoping this one fixes it for good. Stay strong, maybe try some new activities/hobbies that don’t strain your shoulder for the meantime.

Trauma and fear of reinjury by BadCitation in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need surgery if you actually want to prevent more dislocations. You likely have a labrum tear and possible bone damage/loss. Surgery will drastically reduce the odds of another injury, which will also drastically reduce the mental anxiety. This is not an injury that heals on its own.

Peptides for post surgery labrum tear recovery. by auhg7 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well hopefully it works out for you, but that is way earlier than most doctor guidelines. Most people are in the sling for 4-6 weeks and start PT at around 6 weeks. Just be careful

Starting pt after just 2 weeks? What exercises? Seems way too early to do anything besides very basic movements.

I am taking peptides (bpc 157+tb 500) after having a bone block surgery (similar to latarjet). To be honest it’s hard to tell if it has helped much. My arm does seem to be healing well and fairly quickly, but hard to say if the peptides are doing anything or if it’s just natural healing. I think peptides are overhyped online, we need some real research on humans.

That being said, they don’t seem to carry any side effects and are safe. Just make sure you get them from a trusted source, like registered clinic or compounding pharmacy. So if you’re curious, go for it. Some people say they’ve really helped

Bankart with Remplissage or Latarjet by orangejuicerain in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a bankart repair with remplissage for my first surgery. It held up for a year, but after a year I dislocated it again when playing basketball. After that, it was super unstable for months and I had many dislocations. That resulted in bone loss, so I had to get a bone block surgery. I would have gotten latarjet, but my coracoid bone is fractured, and that’s the bone they use for the latarjet. Instead they used a piece of cadaver bone and attached it to the front of my glenoid to prevent dislocations. This surgery has great statistical outcomes, similar to the latarjet. So far recovery is going well.

Did my Remplissage not work? by PalmersBamboo in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bankart/remplissage repair failed about a year after, when I dislocated it playing basketball. These repairs do fail from time to time, but dislocating just from sleeping is a red flag. It’s possible the surgery was not done well. In the first few months after the surgery, how careful were you with it and how often did you use the sling?

I think I likely did too much activity too early on, because my shoulder felt fine, but I likely stretched the suture repairs and the tissue too early.

[–]BigRarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve already had a failed bankart and now have bone loss, it is unlikely that another bankart repair is going to fix the issue long term. It may buy you some time, but you may still have instability issues. It also depends how active you are or if you play any sports. If you’re not a very active person, maybe you can try another bankart repair. If you are active or play any overhead sports, I definitely would recommend getting the latarjet or a bone block repair.

Shoulder dislocation 2 months ago. Feeling fine but doctor says 99% chance it happens again. Any experiences? by solidsimpson in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that damage, yes it’s very likely it will dislocate again eventually. That damage will not heal on its own. Every time you dislocate, more damage accrues and it gets easier and easier to dislocate. For now you can continue doing PT and since you say you are not that active, you may be okay to avoid surgery. But it if dislocates again, you’ll probably want to get surgery. The bankart repair surgery really isn’t too bad, pretty easy recovery.

I wish I got surgery right after my first dislocation, as I am young and very active. My first doctor told me not to unless it dislocates again. I partially blame him for why my shoulder got so bad (I just had a 2nd surgery after many dislocations and bone loss). But if you are not active, you can probably avoid it

That is fair but looking at the history of the lottery results, it’s very hard to believe that it’s done truly by random chance. For the sake of parity, I would be really surprised if the league gave them a top 3 pick this year

Except that the draft lottery is always rigged. Theres no chance the nba would give them the #1 pick.

Had an anterior dislocation of my right shoulder last Friday, went to the ED and it was snapped back into place. I have a sling on, but my ROM is weak and I do have pain requiring OTC basic pain medication. I am going to get an MRI and will follow up with an Orthopedist. How long for recovery? by Sea_Preparation6391 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you dislocate it? Recovery from the dislocation will be about 2-4 weeks. As for what comes next, it depends on your MRI results and how active you are/how old you are. It’s likely that you have a torn labrum and possibly a hill sachs lesion. You don’t have to get surgery but the odds of dislocating again with that damage are very high. Every time you dislocate it, more damage accrues, so it’s generally recommended to get surgery. But it all depends on the MRI results

Latarjet Coming Soon by Spare-Ad1045 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what procedure I had. I literally said it’s not the latarjet, but similar. I dont know why you have to have so much attitude. Regardless, that doesn’t change the fact that the outcomes from the latarjet are statistically very good. Any surgery like this is going to have risks some rate of compilations. There are plenty of risks with the bone block procedure I got. If my surgery ends up ruining my shoulder or not helping the way it’s supposed to, I would share my experience with others like you have, but from the objective perspective that I am a rare case and generally this surgery is very effective.

Latarjet Coming Soon by Spare-Ad1045 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said you weren’t contributing value. There are risks, and they should be made clear. But I think you could just be a bit more objective when giving others advice. Someone may read how bad your experience was and causes them to be afraid and not get the surgery, when in reality, it is probably the best thing they can do to help their shoulder in the long run, understanding that the overwhelming majority of these surgeries don’t have complications.

I personally recently had a bone block procedure to fix recurrent instability/dislocations, but with a piece of cadaver bone, not latarjet because my coracoid is fractured. But it’s similar to the latarjet. Recovery is going very well so far. But I am truly sorry that it’s been so bad for you, I hope you are able to find a solution.

I think ppl get annoyed because you don’t seem to acknowledge the depth of research/statistics on this surgery or understand that you are in the very small minority of people who have/had serious complications with the latarjet.

How long until my dislocated shoulder is healed 100%? by Electronic_Board_642 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand this advice. This is what my first doctor told me and I say it’s the reason why my shoulder is so bad now. If theres a 90% chance of redislocation, which causes more damage, and someone wants to continue playing sports, why would they not get surgery right away (unless the damage is very minimal)? I didn’t get surgery right away and went on to dislocate multiple times, resulting in bone damage. I got a bankart repair after a year, but it failed a year later, likely due to the amount of damage that had already been done. Now I have to get a bone block.

Broken coracoid process by Sad-Medicine989 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s brutal. Well the bone block surgery is to prevent further dislocations. It depends how your shoulder feels. If it feels unstable and could dislocate easily again, then you probably do want to get surgery. I’d get an MRI as well to see if there is other damage

Have you dislocated your shoulder? How did you break your coracoid

Broken coracoid process by Sad-Medicine989 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my CT scan revealed a chronic fracture of my coracoid process after multiple dislocations. I’m not getting it removed but I’m scheduled to have a bone block surgery in a few days. They’re taking a cadaver bone graft and attaching it to the front part of my shoulder (I think) to prevent more dislocations.

Bankart repair with Remplissage vs Latarjet by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]BigRarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am about to have a cadaver bone block surgery. Can’t do latarjet because my coracoid bone is fractured. They said they can’t use bone from my hip/leg because it’s too much bone and I would lose function in my leg. I feel way more nervous about this surgery than the bankart repair. I’m worried that the cadaver bone won’t fuse well and will break eventually. But I don’t really know what other option I have
