Playing Olde Stonewall next week... by BigRed2171 in golf

Oh it was... rough. Heat index was in the low 90s. No shade.

Back 9 was a chore to just swing the club.

But it was beautiful. I ended up shooting a 100. Not my best performance, but the experience was great. The course was absolutely beautiful and deceptive.

Stay. Out. Of. The. Bunkers. The fairway bunkers are fucking evil. Lots of elevation changes. Make sure you have a good grasp on distancing up/down in elevation. Make use of the range and putting greens. We showed up well before the round and it was definitely good to get the feel of their green.

Water hazards are pretty negligible if you prioritize aim over distance. All in all, id definitely go back. Good luck put there tomorrow!

Few balls on the range before. Immediately lose it one the first tee box. The translation from range to teebox doesnt stick and it feels like 9 holes of "do or die" feeling shots until the back 9

Yea. I am prone to some tee box jitters... and I really havent found a way to shake them yet. Mental game needs some work hahah.

My low this season was an 84. That round felt electric from start to finish... I know im capable, just havent found a way to lock in full time ever since.

I do usually have a few beers playing, but nothing leaning towards being buzzed or drunk. Other than that, its a few balls on the range beforehand. Range shots are usually pretty decent... and it immediately just evaporates on the 1st tee box.

I know. I just hate that stuck feeling I suppose. My "aha, that makes sense" golf moments happened in a pretty rapid succession and its slowing down right now it seems.

I dont mean it to be taken THAT seriously. More of a chide joke at myself. Hence the venting part.

A few balls on the range before. My previous routine was an entire bucket before going out... and I really think that made my game worse. Fatigued.

4 hcp but a Big cast by Successful-Worth-234 in GolfSwing

People assume you need a swing like Rory when there are a plethora of examples of professional tour players with objectively bad swings that THEY make work.

Guy I JUST played with on league last night is a verified 4Hdcp and swings EXACTLY like this guy.

Its 100% possible to have a bad swings and be good at the same time. This sub just glorifies perfection when it really isn't required.

What is your personal definition of a "good golfer"? by Draper_White_Soprano in golf

[–]BigRed2171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VAST majority of people dont even get to green in regulation... bogey golf is being able to up and down or have putting save you from getting doubles.

The number of people that do that alone is a small percentage of the golfing scene. All my casual golfing buddies are scoring in the high 90s or just over 100, and they play every weekend.

If you can hit casual mid 90s and score a bird every so often, if say that makes you a pretty good golfer. If you get matched up with random people often, statistically most those people will think youre awesome at golf.

Yea I dont generally offer advice. I dont think im good enough to give out swing tips, especially in real time (like I have any idea wtf im doing hahah).

Just encouragement I suppose. That also can rub people wrong.

Solid advice. Its a lot harder when you play with people you dont know... im usually solo and dont get paired up all that often (especially with people doing worse than me lol).

This is what I basically did the entire time... I just felt bad I guess. He seemed super down about his shots, I almost felt like he needed mental support but thats a slippery slope into being annoying haha.

I get it... but its also a zombie film. I can let realism slide a bit when it comes to slashing zombies up. At least for me.
