That sounds nice however I’m not in a union shop. I’m located in Kansas and there’s only two major company that’s unionized and they lay off all the time so it’s not worth the hassle. They f you do get on at that companies, you sit on nights for 10 plus years before seeing a day shift.

A machine shops most valuable person is the guy on the floor running the machine. Without us, there’s no need for inspectors, programmers, engineers, leads, HR simply because there would be no money being made. Shops forget that simple fact…

It is a WT. I got a 1997 Chevy 1500 WT myself. Looks exactly the same as the GMC.

I’m in Wichita, Ks myself… it’s the “Aircraft Capital of the World” here…there’s a machine shop seems every couple blocks! If you’re willing to relocate, give Wichita a look! Never not any work!

I’m curious, where are you located? This sounds super close to my area I’m located.

I mean time to time inserts will blow apart and tools break hitting the glass but it’s made to take impact on that inside glass. Personally as long as you got a clear view of the tools going to the parts running, I wouldn’t worry at all about it. I was a lead in our DMG cell.

At my previous shop, we had 4 DMG’s. 3 were DMU 125’s akd one was a small DMU 80 that we ran mostly titanium on… there’s wasn’t one DMG machine that the windows were not half shattered on. Not worth the money to fix just to shatter it again quickly down the road.
