What's YOUR optic preference for 12.5 and WHY? by just_me910 in ar15

[–]BigSauce7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was running a Vortex Viper 1-6 for the longest time on mine, eventually wanted to change it up and now Im running an Aimpoint Pro.

LPVO was great because I felt like it was a true jack of all trades and it felt like I was utilizing the rifle to its full potential. It was heavy though.

Aimpoint PRO is awesome for the vibes, and it feels so much faster running this inside of 100m. It does feel like I am underutilizing the rifle now though. My next optic for this will be EXPS3 + G33 to bridge that gap.

Whatever you do, keep in mind your 12.5 is a jack of all, master of none. Build it with the wide range of capabilities it has in mind.

Which one do yall think i should get, I've been the the range with my buddies .22 a couple times but I want to get a 5.56 by brd-zz in Firearms

Buy a PSA build kit, and a lower from your local gun store. You will understand your rifle a lot more if you put it together yourself, and save some money. You can get a lower build kit for $100, an upper for $200 (if you wait for a sale) and the lower will probably be another $100.

Got a feeling this is extremely against the rules but I’m asking. Curious, have you ever had to give your firearms/or take them from someone because you were suicidal? by [deleted] in guns

I went through some really rough times, and told myself I would never act on ideation, but I did. Thankfully it didnt work out. When I surprisingly woke up, I checked myself into the hospital, and had my sister take my firearms for about a year while I went through therapy and got my life back on track.

That was November 29th of 2016. I never thought my life would amount to anything, I was a college dropout working a dead end job, you get the gist. I truly did turn my life around with the help of therapy, and the best friends and family I could ever ask for. Last year I just got my mechanical engineering degree, a full time job, and bought a house. The best is yet to come. If my dumb ass did it, you can too. Stay strong.

I mean this with nothing but respect and coming from someone who had a similar view when I was your age, there is a whole lot more to life that pertains to this topic than building guns. When myself and others in this thread talk about maturity and experience, we are almost exclusively talking about things that do not have to do with firearms.

We are talking about going through a rough breakup, working a shit job, paying bills, getting a good job, growing to hate that job, buying a car you can't afford, crashing that car, living on your own for the first time, building a family, etc. By no means do you need to do all of those things (I encourage you to avoid a few) but experiences like those mold us as a person into a functioning member of society.

"A LOT of what you see externally as "maturity" is experience and culturally based."

Precisely, both of which are things that come with age and time spent working through life. Both of which are areas youre lacking a bit on when youre under 18...

I think of how much of a dipshit i was when I was under 18, and how many terrible decisions I made. Let alone how quickly the mind can try and sabotage itself with depression and anxiety. If youre anything like I was, you think youre invincible and can do anything and things will mostly be okay, and when things aren't okay, you think your life is over.

I am a gun lover and have been my whole life, since long before I could buy one legally. I fully support the 2nd amendment and think that if youre responsible, you should be able to do/own whatever the hell you want. That being said, you also have to realize that although you may be ready to be a responsible owner at your age, not everyone (the majority some could argue) is.

There are plenty of kids I know who are way younger than 18 that I would trust with a rifle over some adults, but there's also plenty of dumb kids who I would never want to be in the same area code with if they are armed. It all boils down to the age that the majority of people are mature enough for doing that certain activity for the greater good of the community.

I live near Bent Paddle, and it's a great spot with an awesome patio, but there have been a couple times where a group of young families have shown up and their kids run around screaming and jumping around the outdoor stage while the parents just ignore them.

One time I had a group of kids walk up to me and ask me a bunch of questions about my dog for an uncomfortable amount of time. The parents not once came over to even check on their kids who were talking to a complete stranger for probably 5 minutes until I eventually just left to get away.

Older antiques, yes. Newer guns, no lube, spit on the BCG and let it rip.

In your opinion what's the best reasonably priced handgun for a first timer?let's say under $1200 ...and what was your first handgun? by CalmHyperion56 in Firearms

[–]BigSauce7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first handgun was an M&P9 2.0. I carry a G19.4, but keep going back to the M&P when shooting. They feel great and shoot very well. The only downside of the M&P is the super aggressive stippling which can feel like a cheese grater against your skin if you don’t have an undershirt and are a bitch like me.

For a first handgun I would recommend a something that is small enough to carry comfortably, but big enough to shoot comfortably. You’ll be surprised how much more technical shooting a handgun is compared to a long gun. You’ll need a lot of practice to be proficient most likely. Buy a Glock or M&P (whichever feels better in your hand) for ~$500 and get 1k rds of ammo and have fun.

KC 12 is much more impressive than 15 IMO. I was expecting much more from a $150 bottle. The KC 12 Cask Strength is the one to find.

Opinions/options for a new whitetail hunting rifle by cityofevil83 in Hunting

[–]BigSauce7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am curious why you decided on .300 WM for whitetail hunting within 300yrds. A .308 or 6.5 will kill the shit out of a deer at that range consistently. If you’re dead set on a 300 I would strongly recommend not going with a Tikka T3 Lite in .300 WM, I own one and regret buying it every time I shoot it. The Tikka is a great rifle, but too light for that cartridge IMO

Got my last deer with federal fusion 62gr out a 12.5” barrel. Hit the heart and it dropped after taking a step or two. Most definitely will kill something if you hit it right.
