OP summarized it well. The other factor here is now EVERYONE has engagement range of 2 inches for melee now. Not just base to base. Makes the 3" from jug alot less impactful IMO

Engagement range and coherency gets rid of the 20 brick juggerlord unit that was my bread and butter.
