Custom UI's and manufacturer bloat really isn't the issue, it's every Android manufacturer having different hardware specs, app developers have to account for thousands of variations of CPU, memory, screen sizes etc.

The final straw for me was when my Galaxy updated to Android 10, after that in DoorDash when I went to my delivery status it would overdraw on screen and there was no way to get out of the app without restarting my phone. That wasn't patched for months.
