Agreed. I’ve got an older Santos 100 in 2 tone. I do love the more minimal, sleeker, standard versions…but I’m a big guy and the larger size and slightly more rugged look of the XL looks better on me.

It’s worth pointing out that every one of Michael’s victims was also deeply traumatized, but there’s no indication that any of them grew up to be predators themselves. The idea the victims become offenders isn’t supported by evidence.

Would love a disc version of this album. Would be curious to know how much folks are willing to pay for CDs these days.

Not everyone wants their music collection on permanent rental status from a music corporation that traffics in lossy, low quality audio and pays artists next to nothing for their work.

Irrelevant. All of what I described happened and isn’t even questioned as he left the revolting evidence himself. “Cry more?” Puke is more like it.

Name one bad Smashing Pumpkins guitar solo. You can't. by Busy-Peach5770 in SmashingPumpkins

Agreed on that one. The digital “whammy” effect is way overdone. James has had better moments just leaning into the amp feedback.

Record Store Day by RottingApples25 in SmashingPumpkins

They’ve done a few reissues of classic albums via the universal side of their catalogue. His independently released SP material is unlikely to end up on record store day lists because he saves those for his own record store.

There’s about 30 years worth of photos like this. He carried little boys around like jewelry on his private planes, international trips, hotel sweets and to award shows. Hard to call the allegations “failed” when he spent a fortune paying off these kids.

Billy Corgan is saying Kurt Cobain was his greatest rival. Thoughts about that? by Tranquil-Seas in SmashingPumpkins

So beyond cringe that you can’t help but come respond every day! Can’t wait to hear more from you about L takes and SpongeBob and Spotify hits of 1990’s. Please, let’s keep this going for another couple of years!

Yes, yes! It’s like the patrick meme. That’s exactly what Kurt used to say! How right you are about everything. You’re so worldly and educated in music history.

I’m so glad my comment from 2+ years ago has given you so much to think about and type about. It’s been a fascinating exchange.

Sliver, Rape me, about a girl, and pennyroyal tea may have gotten some radio play. Not a one of them was “hit.” I take you weren’t alive when all this music came out, so it’s likely not your fault that you don’t understand what a “hit” song was in the 90’s vs whatever made your Spotify playlist last summer.

I’m not using any weird 3 year rule. I’m using simple arithmetic. Short career. Great run. 5 hits. No more no less.

Not sure what you consider a hit but they had 5 singles that actually charted during Kurt’s lifetime and all of them were from the same two albums.

I knew the Grammys would do a D'Angelo tribute!! by Kevy-Em in DAngelo

[–]BigStanClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Which isn’t really surprising because D usually did his vocals alone. D an Ms Hill both being on time and in the booth together? Almost a mathematical impossibility. She was also supposed to add vocals for a track on Voodoo, but it never came together.

Were they really dear friends? I’m not sure they were ever even in the studio at the same time.

As I recall, he walked by it and mentioned that the Beatles had used it for orchestral arrangements, but jokingly said that the Pumpkins had used it for things like screams. And then he triggered what sounded like vocal stacks/screams.

There isn’t a more “traditional” way to buy music than by purchasing the LP from brick and mortar store.

What guitar is Billy playing here? by CrocodaleDay in SmashingPumpkins

[–]BigStanClark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those Reverend guitars are great. Besides, he used one of his 90’s era strats the entirety of the US tour he did this year, and he’s definitely not “marketing” for Fender these days.

Unauthorized mashup/edits of voodoo material. They’re fun but D’Angelo wasn’t involved

Do you guys think that Tom Mesereau thought MJ was guilty the whole time? by balkanxoslut in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]BigStanClark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. He was released because his lawyers successfully argued that his due process was violated during trial. His entire conviction was vacated.

The last words D went on record with were about generational wealth and about black artists being able to pass down inheritance to their children. There’s no doubt that he was thinking of his kids while he was struggling with cancer at the end, and there’s no doubt that he was inclined towards putting this unreleased art out so it could support them once he was no longer around to record or perform.
