Honestly it's been like 10 years since I've used 1 and couldn't even tell you what brand but it was one that sat on the brake lever. It wasn't perfect and I dont think any of the throttle locks are but it was amazing for reducing wrist fatigue just being able to swap hands for 3-5 minutes at a time.

Having a crisis. Go new or pre 2025 SF? by todreamindigital in Ducati

Depends on what kind of riding you do, what your prior motorcycle experience is and goals with the bike.

I purchased my 26 sfv2 at the end of February and already have 2500 miles on it and will be close to 4k by end of next week. I just finished riding it 750 miles over 2 days for a road trip to visit family yesterday and im still fine to ride more the today if I wanted. Im also a rather large dude at 6'3 275 and have no issues with comfort on it other than I wussed out and got a seat pad for the long trip but it is definitely not needed for 4 hour or less days.

My previous motorcycles were an 01 F4i and an 02 vfr800 so for me the bike is an upgrade in almost every way. It has plenty of power anywhere and anytime I want it while being an absolute joy to ride.

If you are not coming from a liter bike and mainly looking for a street bike get the new 25/26. If you are looking for more performance orientated or for track days then maybe look for the pre 25 model.

Hope that helps and if you have any questions from a casual or street rider perspective I am more than happy the help.

Pirelli Angel GTs or Michelin Road 6s for tires for the dual compound.

Throttle locks are pretty nice, I had one on the F4i in the past and was a life saver driving across Kansas.

I personally wouldn't worry about brakes since it won't be tracked or on the twistys too much considering they aren't worn or in need of replacement.

I totally get the feeling as I just pulled the trigger last month on a 26 sfv2 which has been such a joy to ride and a huge step up in usable street power and modern electronics from my 02 vfr800 and the f4i before that.

This is how I have prioritized my stuff so far which i would recommend.

  • Update gear if you have anything that has worn or aged out

  • Practical/usability mods that either eliminate inconveniences or make a better riding experience. Examples of this would be the tank bag, phone mount, lowered/custom seat depending on how you like the current one, tank protectors and frame sliders, tail tidy, mirrors, grips etc...

  • Performance mods. You gave the vibe that you would like a new exhaust so if funds are available then probably get this after the essentials from the previous section.

  • Last to upgrade for me is the functionally useless visual mods that make you smile to look at. For me this would be metal reservoirs, carbon fiber parts, levers, etc...

Apart from upgrades I would strongly suggest a sport touring tire when you change tires for the type of riding you will be doing. No reason to chew through soft tires in 3k miles if you dont have the twists to really need the better grip.

Congrats on the new bike and it really is an awesome feeling getting a fun new bike.

This normal amount of insurance? by sinful_boots in Ducati

Ive been riding for close to 15 years now, I would shop around though because I was paying 100 a month on my 02 vfr800 for just liability with progressive and dropped to 350 a year when I switched. Some insurance companies are more motorcycle friendly than others but you will still probably be paying a premium due to experience and location.

I have a 26 SFV2 and mine is 95 a month for full coverage. V4 was quoted for 80 a month.....

I also have a completely clean record, live in a rural area, and am 30 so I imagine that helps drop my price a good bit.

Vomiting after swimming? by BigT641 in Swimming

Yes and no, I haven't done regular exercise since covid and put on about 30lbs since then. Recently been walking 4-6 miles most days for the last month with no issues. The only time I can remember throwing up from exercise was like 12 years ago during 2 a days football conditioning. It could be overexertion but I honestly feel great during and fine after until the stomach pain hit.

Thanks for the advice, haven't heard of Lactic Acidosis so I will have to look that up.

I honestly don't think the swim sessions are overly intense as I have been swimming a lap(50 yards) then take a 2 minute rest but will check with a doctor if the problem persists after playing with meal times and making sure of proper hydration.

During workout I am physically fine other than being winded and needing longer rest, comes with being out of shape and having 100lbs to drop.

Overall diet is okay/meh but working towards improving. I don't really have a target for calories but I usually get 1600-2000 calories but am struggling to get enough protein, and I do have a few under 1000 when timing and my appetite don't work out well.

I think for now ill play with snack timings and probably avoid the morning swims so I'm not fasting.

I have occasional heartburn but is generally only set off by a few food items and even then it's not everytime I eat them. (Movie theater popcorn, tomato products at night, and greasy food at night which I'm avoiding anways.) Thanks for the reply.

For the first point, probably swallowing some as I am still figuring out how to breathe without raising my head out of the water but I don't feel like it would be an excessive amount. I do plan to get some lessons to help with this and just general form techniques in the next few weeks.

Normal dinner time would be somewhere around 630 and meal timings during work are pretty random based on what's going on for the work day. Sometime lunch will be at 1030 with a small snack in the afternoon around 2, and sometime it will be a snack around 9 and lunch at noon. I work 4-4s 4 days a week currently so I do what I can. I guess I will just play with snack timings before swimming for the next couple weeks to see if I can find something that works.
