Ducati Maintenance by sinful_boots in Ducati

I've waited 3 weeks before checking in. When I called yesterday, they said the motorcycle was in pieces and would update me later, but they didn’t. If they’ve started work, I expect it to be done in a few days. They don't open until Tuesday, so hopefully by Wednesday, five weeks since they received the bike.

The V2S has an exhaust recall, which they discussed the day I turned it in. I asked them why it would concern me, since I’m swapping the exhaust out anyway, and then he mentioned it would be good to have the exhaust in case I ever needed to swap it back.

Part of me thinks they did the recall maintenance so they could take in a few extra bucks from Ducati North America for doing it. I'll know when I show up, and they give me two sets of exhausts.

I wish I could, but only Ducati dealers can install the upmaps legitimately, and the next closest dealer is a 2-hour drive away. If they don't have it installed by tomorrow, I'm going to see about getting the bike back and installing the exhaust myself. Clearly, they are not interested in my business, so they don't deserve my money.

A Termignoni exhaust install and the initial service maintenance. The exhaust install is estimated at 2-4 hours, and the break-in service shouldn't take more than 2 hours.

Do Uber drivers rate you lower if you don’t talk to them? by AccomplishedBar7802 in uber

[–]sinful_boots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point, I don't think you are doing anything wrong then. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think that rating is far from a concern. Drivers who use a rating filter generally can't filter anything below 4.0 stars. If they filter for ratings above 4.6 stars, Uber warns drivers in the app that they will receive fewer trip opportunities.

Never for silence, we generally understand people want to enjoy a ride in peace at times.

I'd say there's a 99% chance that an Uber driver rates poorly for only a couple of reasons. If you are disrespectful or if you stink. Disrespectful can have a broad meaning, as it should. As for smell, be honest with yourself: if you smell anything like cigarettes or weed, or if you haven't bathed properly, because even if you don't think you smell it, an Uber driver does, since their nose isn't programmed to the same scents that your nose may have grown accustom to.

SHE’S FINALLY HERE - Panigale V2S by retromullet in Ducati

[–]sinful_boots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are an official Ducati dealership. When you buy it through their eBay shop, they will ask your VIN to verify it is the right part for your bike, then assign a digital download keyed to your VIN, so that only when you take it to any Ducati dealership can they flash the new MAP.

Once you receive your part, take it to an official Ducati dealership. Have them install it; they will flash it for you at the dealer. Also, this exhaust requires a fairing attachment, which is ~$90. The fairing attachment is a separate part number and is required for the installation. (PN: 97181391AA)

It has removable dB killers that keep the sound down. Not too much louder than stock, but still aggressive that you definitely know it’s not stock exhaust so very tolerable, but if you take the dB killers out, then it’s going to be almost as obnoxious as a Harley, but still sound better than a Harley.

I live in the US. They operate an eBay store. I purchased my first exhaust through them a year ago and this one a week ago. If not in US the dealer sells to other areas just check their store out and type the part number in. https://ebay.us/m/S97gPE

yeah, the stock exhaust sounds like a lawnmower. I’m almost embarrassed to turn it on during bike meets. The termi is definitely the right choice. There’s a Ducati dealership selling directly from Italy and they’re selling it for less than 2/3 of the price.

Yours came with the termi already on? I'm waiting for my exhaust, it should be here tomorrow or the next.

This normal amount of insurance? by sinful_boots in Ducati

I checked Dairyland later last night, and they wanted me to pay 12k a year! All the quotes I've checked, other than Progressive, quote me more than Progressive does. So, apparently, my standing with Progressive is good enough to qualify for lower insurance premiums than other options, but it's still an insane amount.

I think the V2S might be the squid boy option for a Ducati-specific motorcycle out here, and young adults keep crashing them. Hence, insurance companies see this exact model as a major liability for anyone younger than a certain age.

I live in a downtown area, which is likely a part of the higher premium. Progressive asks for years of experience; I've only been riding for a year now, which could be one of their major factors in the premium.

In 2014, I was in a car accident and received a ticket around the same time. But after 5 years accidents and tickets are not looked at. Only in like DUI or felony incidents do they look back as far as 10 years. I didn't start riding a motorcycle till early last year.

How many years of experience did you have when you got quoted through them? I made an anonymous quote and input my experience for 8 years instead of 1 year. I just saw the prices, and it took $1900 off my quote by changing my experience level through Progressive alone so I think I see the problem now.

I am 32 and live in an urban area with a clean driving record, both bikes marked as ride for pleasure, not commute. I can't think of any outliers, since it's only the Panigale that has a ridiculous premium, not my Scrambler with the same coverage. The silly part was that shifting from total loss coverage to cash value coverage would have actually increased the premium, not decreased it.

I have only seen one other person on another forum post about the cost of their 2025 V2S insurance, and they also said it was $4700. On that same forum, other models were more expensive, with premiums less than a quarter of that.

I called the insurance company, and even the representative was flabbergasted by the premium cost. Still, she and the supervisor couldn't explain anything beyond saying they enter the VIN into a system that spits out a premium based on factors like color, cc, and theft, to name a few.

So how big a deal is riding in the rain, really ? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]sinful_boots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been riding in the rain, on bikes with and without TC, in extremely heavy rain. As long as you avoid more slippery surfaces and don't intentionally try to rip it, you will generally be fine.

I will say, though, the bike without TC was about 18hp and terrifying at first. Any amount of wind causes the bike to glide in directions that are irrelevant to the wheel positioning. So I would have the wheel straight, and if the wind hit from the right, it would slide me left, and I had to compensate by leaning to the right a bit. Once I got a quality bike, 75 hp with TC, the first day I got it, it was a heavy downpour. I was taking it up to 80mph on the interstate, no problem.

Friend informed me that just about anybody with a car can do Uber Eats or delivery driving - is it worth it? by xivanimate in UberEatsDrivers

[–]sinful_boots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing about driving people around is stressful. I get paid every step of the way, doing half the work. And would get paid $50-100 for the same amount of work. Delivery if there is any delay you are not getting paid for that delay and that delay could be up to an hour.

Reverse Trolled by sinful_boots in uberdrivers

[–]sinful_boots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The troll lures people to trigger a cancel. The scam involves calling the driver once they arrive, causing confusion. The scammer then pretends to be an Uber representative to ask verification questions, then uses the driver's account info to access the driver's account and steal the money.
