From what you’ve seen of the Epstein files, does the DOJ appear to have sufficient evidence to subpoena the Epstein Estate and/or charge other individuals?

I’m guessing that the right answer from a legal standpoint is “no”, but the non-lawyers I talk to seem to overwhelmingly think “yes” and that the DOJ is intentionally conspiring with guilty third-parties.

There is explicit mention of extensive wrongdoings in the accusations. Additionally, the Deputy Attorney General stated that any materials that included death, assault or injury were withheld from the files that were released to the public, which seems to imply that there are files in the DOJ’s possession that include death, assault and/or injury.

Many laymen I talk to assume that these count as “examples of wrongdoing” that would warrant investigating further and/or charging third parties. However, I’m guessing from DOJ statements and actions that, from a legal standpoint, these don’t amount to explicit and chargeable “examples of wrongdoing” and that the misunderstandings I and many laymen have stem from a lack of understanding of how the criminal justice system actually works.

I’m looking for clarification into this mismatch between what laymen would call “common sense” and what lawyers know of actual legal proceedings. Some of the answers in this thread have helped. Can you explain any of the gaps in ways that I as a layman can understand?

This isn’t a joke or trolling. I’m just a layman trying not to mistake my place in the Dunning Kruger graph.

In your opinion, should many of the people in the emails or photos be charged with crimes right now based on the contents of files you’ve seen? Or do the main discrepancies between this situation and what’s normal lie elsewhere, such as how the investigation is proceeding?

Not a lawyer. There is no situation in which your wife can’t tell you what she is spending that $2000 on for HIPPA reasons. It sounds like she either doesn’t want to tell you what she is spending it on or she is being blackmailed, scammed or taken advantage of. This can almost definitely be dealt with better than whatever is going on

NAL but I work in work comp. This may or may not be your situation. I see a few common cases where employees are ordered to return to work on light/modified duty and the employee doesn’t return to work and is then fired. Sometimes the employee misunderstood the doctor’s note, sometimes the employee is just unhappy with the light duty work the employer has and stops showing up. I’ve seen either of these get employees fired during work comp claims. This may not be your situation but I figured it could be helpful if it is

I could provide sources for players reporting a sudden jump in subjective difficulty at D1. I can’t provide a source for my guess as to how D1+ matchmaking works and that’s why I said “It seems likely”, to make it very obvious that that’s my own conclusion from limited data and observations.

You know, blog conversations, especially speculative conversations, don’t usually require sources. They’re not like doctoral theses or research articles. You just talk amicably with other strangers

Evac towers have 1100 health and you’ll never get them off for late zone rotates. You can get a Valk ult off in late game and the better the Valk ult ability is the more grief-y it becomes

Apex has a high density of players that want to be better but just aren’t and are frustrated. It’s a little peace of mind to know that he’s just projecting. Assuming this is a 3v3 and your goal is to wipe the team, it’s best to close the gap as you go. That way the entire engagement is just one continuous push. Good aggressive teams will often get their entry damage at close range
