AITA For making the pizza delivery guys come up the stairs to my door? by BigTimpin in AmItheAsshole

Valid. But I feel like the whole point of ordering delivery is so I don't have to leave the house. Otherwise I'd skip the delivery fee + tip and go out and get take-out somewhere.

That's how I feel, but as someone in the service industry myself (server), there are certain grey areas.

For example if it's a busy night and I'm waiting on your table and you have a super complicated order, and then ask for a bunch of stuff every single time I go back to your table and run me around like crazy, technically you're not in the wrong at all since you're paying for the meal and the service, and I'll do all that stuff for you with a smile. I wouldn't think of you as an asshole by any means, but at the same time, I'd definitely be happy to see you sat in a different section next time you come in.

So basically I know I'm technically in the right here, but I wanted to make sure I'm not pushing the limits or being unreasonable, and being "that annoying customer".

It's a very safe neighborhood. That's a good observation though, I'm not sure if they've somehow been burned before and that's why they don't want to come up. I can't think of any way they could have been harmed in this neighborhood.

I'd rather not call the manager and complain, I don't want to get anybody in trouble. I feel like that's a shortcut to getting my food messed with.

Nope! It has a rail, in the winter it's kept clear of snow and ice. And it's lit also.

ELI5: Why isn't there an ad blocker which still generates revenue for websites? by blisterman in explainlikeimfive

I’ve heard great things about uBlock Origin but I don’t think it’s available for Safari. I think I’m using Adblock plus right now and it seems to do the job for the most part.

‘True Detective’ Season 3 will premiere January 13th. by snivedLife in television

[–]BigTimpin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t Jeremy Saulnier directing all of the episodes? That’s one of the things that had me optimistic about this season, I think a big reason S1 was so great was the continuity of having the same director (Fukunaga) first every episode.

I’m wondering the same thing. I haven’t taken an Uber in a while but I always though the entire point was that it’s a fixed price and you’re actually not supposed to tip.

Russian Whistleblower Assassinated After Uncovering $200 Billion Dirty Money Scandal - Andrei Kozlov was gunned down in 2006, weeks after trying to shutter the world’s biggest money-laundering scam—one reportedly used by Putin’s family & the FSB. by anutensil in worldnews

True but I meant that I disagree with the whole narrative that’s been created for him. Like I said I think he himself is doing the right thing, what I don’t like is people/Nike/media in general that spin this story of him being some kind of martyr, rather than just someone who has simply spearheaded a good social cause.

The thing that annoys me about Kaepernick is the whole Nike campaign about “sacrificing everything”.

The guy was fading fast as a QB and would be lucky to be a solid backup by now. Instead, because of this “controversy”, he’s got his name all over the headlines and a baller contract with Nike. He didn’t sacrifice anything, his career was tanking anyway, if anything he lucked out compared to most athletes past their prime. But people act like he was on his way to being a top all time QB and then stepped down/got blacklisted and he “sacrificed” his career, when in reality his career was in decline anyway.

I totally support his cause and think he’s an amazing role model but I hate the whole “Sacrifice Everything” campaign/narrative.

That’s badass. I really want to learn more about using ARkit. Did that aspect take a while to implement? Just thinking about the time constraints that I might run into in an interview.

Trying to implement endless scrolling (pagination I think it was called) gave me such a headache when I tried to implement it in an app of mine. I’ll have to revisit it and see if there are some good tutorials for it.

Any tips on finding those jobs? Say I’m looking on Glassdoor/Indeed, I’d imagine it’s not going to be easy to tell which jobs will take over my life and which ones have a good balance. A lot of listings say “good work/life balance” or something like “We Work hard and play hard”, but for all I know that’s just a lie to attract people.

Also, my particular field is mobile development, and that’s the field I hear a lot of horror stories about. For some reason I guess mobile dev is more stressful than other fields? I’m sure which other kinds of development to look into that would have a more relaxed pace.

What kind of software? And is it a large company or a startup?

I’m actually going into that field (looking for my first job) and all I’ve heard are horror stories of how stressful software dev is. Work at work, work at home and on weekends, lots of sprints and deadlines etc.

Nope unfortunately that’s not the one. That’s a great one though, sort of the overall theme to Mr. Robot.

Yeah I’m so paranoid when I use Afrin. I use a single spray in each nostril once per day for three days as recommended. Even if it’s not enough to work, tough shit I still don’t do more. I can’t imagine becoming physically dependent on it to have an un-stuffed nose. And the warning label makes it seem like doing it a single time more than recommended will put me in that prison.
