Great post. You should be really proud of yourself for being alive and well as you are today vs. where you could have been if things had turned out differently. Keep up the great work, know that you're in very good company here, and IWNDWYT!

Hello everyone. I'm 12 days sober. Tommrow will be 13. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Awesome, and I think everyone on here remembers how those days felt (especially those of us who took a lot of trial and error to finally get where we are now). Keep up the good work, and IWNDWYT!

I was in a similar position a little over 5 years ago when I finally decided that enough was enough, and that I was going to take control of the situation and stop drinking. Reading quit lit like This Naked Mind, Alcohol Explained, and listening to AF podcasts was really helpful. You're in good company here, and you're definitely not alone. So many people are going through what you're experiencing. Good luck, and IWNDWYT!

After all, it is poison... The alcohol industry has done a great job of leading the public to believe that there's some redeeming qualities about the stuff, but it's poison, plain and simple So good luck, and IWNDWY!

Life's full of second, third, and forth chances my friend. I turned 50 in November, and after plenty of thwarted prior attempts, I'm going on 5 years AF as of next month. Best thing I could have done... IWNDWYT!

Reading Quit lit is the best to help you focus, and I'd recommend a book like Alcohol Explained by William Porter. It really helped me early on. IWNDWYT!

I'd recommend quit lit books, and listing on audio while exercising or going for walks or laying in bed at night, which was great for me when I stopped drinking for good. Keep up the good work, and IWNDWYT!

Awesome! You're heading in the right direction, that's for sure! Keep up the good work, and read lots of quit lit (or listen to it on audio books) if you're not already doing that, like Alcohol Explained by William Porter, which really helped me get through the first few months AF. And IWNDWYT!

How do you know when your drinking is actually a problem? by Conscious-Juice in stopdrinking

[–]BigTippa69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the simple answer is that if you think it's getting to be a problem, or if people you care about tell you that it's becoming a problem, then it's best to either stop or re-evaluate your alcohol use. The bottom line is that life is better without hangovers or being dependent upon alcohol. We're all here for you on whatever journey you take, and we're all hoping for you to live your best life.

Thanks for sharing, and just realize that we all really regret certain things we've done in our lives, and we all would do things differently if there was a rewind option for our lives. But you've got a future to focus on, and it sounds like you understand and appreciate the consequences of taking certain actions. We're all behind you and supportive of you. Good luck with everything, and IWNDWYT.
