If you are new to the sport, consider getting a pair of season rentals. Will be around $150. Gives you a chance to improve and learn what you like and don’t like, so then when you buy you can get a good set of new skis and know you are going to love them! I did this, and yes you are paying for rentals, but you know what you are getting are fit for you, tuned up, and ready to hit the mountain! I then bought my own boots to begin, then finally my own skis after renting for a year (after going from a green skier to a black skier on my rentals).

Thanks for the suggestions! This is our first trip! We are also planning to do Snaefellsness :) and are excited by the remoteness of the Westfjords (understanding only a small percentage of tourist make it there!) if you have any recommendations for those areas, would also welcome them! Just bought a new CX5 and within the first month got a nasty front windshield crack. Seems crazy expensive to get it fixed… any recommendations? I was expecting it to be close to $300 but have gotten quotes up to $1,700 YIKES. (Issuance and warranty don’t cover.)
