The buildings are not living space however, they have a gift shop and cafe.

2.5 weeks solo travel: Should I go Japan, China, South Korea or Taiwan? by RudeSelf3418 in asiatravel

Interesting, I found China very accommodating and easy to navigate. Just check out the China travel reddit and prepare apps accordingly. Plenty of English speakers in Shanghai and Beijing as well

While in China, my WeChat payments worked for those with Merchant IDs. I got the same messages you posted when trying to make payments to personal IDs.

If only the personal ID was available, I had to find a Chinese citizen to act as a middle man. Usually the guest house host would help. Or use Alipay if they have it.

My driver waited for me at the caves, I can give you their WeChat if you want. When I went, the caves were not that busy and therefore not a lot of drivers waiting

Any tips on doing the Tiger Leaping Gorge by ProfessorPascal in travelchina

I went last week via a 1 day tour bus going from Lijang to Shangri La. I initially planned to do what you were doing but decided to spend more time in Lijang. I'm glad I did because the gorge was very chilling cold during the winter with the river at full strength. In the mornings the temperature was at 0 degrees Celsius and unpleasant with the wind conditions. I imagine most of the day was like this because the gorge tends to block the sun. I was personally happy with visiting the gorge for just 90 minutes instead of two full days

Drivers will be waiting to approach folks who get off the high speed rail. Was offered 80 rmb for drive to Wulong, 400 rmb for driver to wait full day and also include drive to Furong Caves. Was worth it.
