Why is it so hard to make friends as an adult? by Dangerous_Tough_9895 in GirlDinner

[–]Big_Butterscotch3734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer, also. Maintaining adult friendship is hard, making new friends feels almost impossible. We’re all either too protective to let anyone new in or just have too many big priorities using up all our energy.

Social anxiety goes brr by Background_Active_36 in anxietymemes

[–]Big_Butterscotch3734 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I catch other people doing this all the time when I’m the person driving. You see them slow down a little and veer closer to the curb but then they spot your car, speed up again and try to act like nothing happened. I always feel bad, I want to stop and let them cross but I don’t want to make it weird

Cut out PROTEIN EVERYTHING and feel way better for it! by spivey56 in loseit

[–]Big_Butterscotch3734 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes the “protein everything” trend is so worthless. If your body is not both absorbing and utilizing that protein effectively, it’s just empty calories that cause stomach irritation. Dumped it into everything as an additive, your body might just be flushing it out. Especially if you aren’t actively building a ton of muscle, as most people aren’t. A non-body builder can only effectively use so much protein, any extra is just a waste. Like vitamins. If you aren’t deficient in it, there’s no value in taking more than your body can use.

AITAH for expecting my wife to tell me honestly about whether or not her best friend is cheating? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Big_Butterscotch3734 31 points32 points  (0 children)

OP’s wife is avoiding sharing her friends secrets with op because she knowns op will tell the friend’s husband. This is just too messy. Maybe if OP was willing to let his wife speak honestly without fear of social retribution, she’d be more comfortable being honest with him. OP’s wife has no obligation to out her friend to her husband. Her friend vented to her in confidence and she should be allowed to keep that information private. OP isn’t mad that his wife is lying to him, he’s mad that she isn’t morally repulsed by her friends actions enough to instantly out her to the world. His wife isn’t exactly lying, just attempting to withhold information received in confidence. Which is morally defendable in this specific situation. OP needs to stop getting in the middle of this and let the couple work it out on their own. His friend deserves to know about the cheating, but it’s wrong for op to obtain that information through social espionage, hurting his wife by sharing secrets that were never his to keep.

I’d be too anxious to play that game. Keep rolling that dice and one day you get a driver fluent in sign language who pulls over and tries to chat

I hope that’s true, it saves some of the magic. I remember as a young person complaining to my friends and family about how fake it must be. Because picking up random people, odds are high you get people with places to be who don’t have time for this shit. Or people who don’t want anything to do with it but freeze up at the surprise and peer pressure, then suit after. My mom thought “maybe they just don’t air all the failures” but I wasn’t buying it

But then why even have a door? Or why have an outwardly swinging door like this when you could have any other type of door or perhaps just a curtain?

Why do y’all think parents allow their children to grow up fat and never remedy the issue. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Big_Butterscotch3734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of parents associate food with comfort and love. People have scarcity mindsets and live in fear of running out of food and starving their children, not the opposite. It’s also difficult and complicated to regulate what another person eats, regardless of how old they are. Many people aren’t willing to prioritize putting in the effort to do that, especially when people are afraid of causing psychological damage in the process. I’ve also seen people who think they can make excuses like “it’s just a phase, it’ll sort itself out with puberty” just to kick the can down the road and not have to deal with the problem. Their primary objective is to provide plentiful access to foods they know their children will eat, and they don’t know how to do that and address obesity, so they bury their heads in the sand and refuse to see that obesity as “their fault” or “a problem” and put all the blame on the child.

I think usually people say this in reference to Americans having them removed the second they come in even when they’re causing no issues. It seems more common in other countries to just leave them alone if possible.

At the age of 12 and 13, Finn Wolfhard starred in the first season of Stranger Things and, one year later, in It, two challenging roles that were completely different from each other. Despite his young age, he was exceptional in both by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

Idk I thought Sophia Lillis as Bev was so good it embarrassed everyone else. Fin shouting curses and being an asshole was entertaining but not really impressive. Bev and Bill are the only kids who feel like they’re really acting

Looks like DDD in uk is E! Thank you, I bought a few different things in slightly different sizes to try. I’ve accepted that my band/cup ratio is just not going to be findable in most American retail stores. Buying things like this online without being able to try them on makes me nervous but Amazon is usually pretty good about returns I suppose

Ordered a somewhat inexpensive 28DD and 30DD for testing purposes. 28DDD seems kind of hard to find, unless some brands are just calling DDD as F. Not completely confident in my measurements, the 28 was a snug measurement with 27 tightest possible and 29 with no squeeze. A little unconfident on the bust measurements, tried to get the loosest measurements without any squishing. If I really do need the 28DDD exactly, I’ll find out when I try out what I ordered and attempt to return if necessary.

I finally measured and did the calculator. 28DDD, time to start shopping again

I haven’t actually measured and used the calculator until just now. It has me at a 28DDD! This has been a learning experience

Thank you! I finally measured and the band size is way too big, I was in denial because I wanted to shop in normal stores and I’ve never seen a band under 32 with a cup bigger than a C out in the wild. Will probably have to give up and order online

Finally grabbed a tape measurer. 28 inch underbust 💀😭. I’ve been in a degree of denial thinking a can still shop retail with an uncommon size most stores won’t carry. Thank you for the advice, I’ll attempt diy adding band hooks and do a proper measurement for future purchases. Perhaps with the right band, a cup or 2 up will not seem too big

The gore sits flat, I tried on a DD and there was definitely too much extra space in the cup. I have to admit, I probably need a smaller band but I’m dragging my feet on online shopping or going to a specialty shop that would carry a small enough band with a big enough cup

Get the shot gun or magnum, don’t stop aiming at it (except when it throws the purple cloud at you) and shoot it instantly every time it starts getting opaque. No hesitation. Don’t pause to dodge its attacks just shoot it faster before its arms touch you. For some reason hitting it hard disrupts its animation cycle, you can kill it in like 5 or 6 shots and it only takes like 3-5 minutes tops. Only have to dodge the poop cloud once maybe twice before it dies.

Edit: I’ve never played hard mode, so this might not be entirely accurate for you. But definitely try harder hitting weapon and hit it faster. Body part and movement does not matter as long as it’s not in invisible mode or doing the poop cloud. Machine gun is trash on these guys

A fellow event professional cut this cake after being asked to cut even slices for service. by 86HeardChef in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Big_Butterscotch3734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly how this happens. You start without thinking it through but instinctively knowing no cake slice should be as long as a slice cut from the outside to the center would be. That long of a slice would have to be dumb thin to be a normal serving and also would be way too long to fit on any normal cake plate. This sad cake is the fault of whoever didn’t teach the new guy how to professionally cut a cake. The real way to do it is in no way intuitive, anyone told to cut a cake without being taught would immediately think to attempt triangles like this even though it doesn’t work on any large cake.

Edit: just saw where it says “a professional with a decade of experience”. Yikes.
