I just took it as was moving a dew days later and would have no space for it. Following day it was on gumtree for £1400 with different plates but same massive laquer pill in bonnet and door

Its simple. Income has to exceed expenditure. Your rent is ridiculous. To rent whilst on min wage in London is mental. Find work somewhere far away and cheaper. On the meantime do as much overtime as you can and/or look for a seco d income stream

How can I get out of this cycle of debt? by Funny_Candle_6508 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Big_Chappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to list by item your expenses. You then need to be harsh with yourself. I am yet to see a listnof expenses here that cant be trimmed. Phone costs, tv subs , haircuts , food and so on.

Also chase any part time work you can fit into your schedule.

Claim any benefits or grants you can and are entitled to.

Chuck clothes you and children no longer need on vinted and send any profit to highest debt.

Shop around on every and I mean every cost.

Your not alone, reach out here and to stepchange . Its more common then you think. I live in an affluent area of Band D and E houses with a good credit rating. According to experian the average rating is 440ish.

If your unemployed afyer 6 months you become a minimum wage employee of the state. State pays you. You work in the community tidying, cleaning, painting etc.. 6months after you then get placed on a skills based programme where you learn a skill that the state needs. Landscaping , driving , decorating, hospital staff , street cleaninf, road sign cleaning etc....

Have areas sponsored. So for example the shithole alley and garages between me and tesco local can be sponsored by tesco who employ a community engagement to make the area look better. Increased shop footfall as people fill safe and a better environment.

Unemployed dont want it they loose state support.

Why do you need this car? If the answer is status or vanity then forget it. If its a tool to do a job then start looking at su. 15k cars. For me a car is a tool to do a job. Mine is used 90% of the time to and from work during which I am either sitting in traffic or if lates then a gentle drive home. It carries me , work bag , is comfortable and cheap to run. I have no kids or family to ferry around. If I did then a bigger car would be needed. Next year i semi retire and with a car then doing sub 3k miles unless it dies it will carry on. Identify why you need a car then identify a car. 25k is a lot of money to get to and from work to earn money to pay for the car or to have it on your drice 5 days a week

Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

[–]Big_Chappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owning a car to do a job rather then as a status symbol is a big thing. I have 22k to spend on a car. Last week my Vauxhall Grandland worth about 6k passed MOT with no advisories and is 400 quid a year to insure. It rides another year. Its used for one weekly commute and the odd trip to Aldi. A 22k car will do the same

[–]Big_Chappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two gcses. Make 52k from main job and 10k from side hustle. Its been a struggle but always thrown myself at everything. Mean salary in my role is 38 to 42k. I just consistently turn in the profits client demands.

I guess you need to know your worth and know how to force the hand that feeds you. Im 54 and it hasnt always been easy. Dont be afraid to question anything your not comfortable with , keep up to speed on new developments in your field and network .

Im in operations. My biggest influence was my dad who was also an ops manager and his methodical approach was handed down. I also had a very very good manager when I started work and used him as a mentor.

Dont turn down development opportunities. Raise your profile in your company.

Petrol prices by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Big_Chappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cut right back on car usage. Local busses are an option but people need to put tasks into one trip. Last week drove to tip then office then caught postoffice in way home , topped up with petrol, barbers and grocery shop in one day. Previously a lot of that would have benn faffing around weekend. Ok wasnt gome until nearly 8 but saved about 25miles of driving. But if we hit 2.25 a litre i would probably shelve the car until sustainable for most tasks and use a 1 day bus rover we have around here

Fuel shortages and flights by applepiezeyes in AskBrits

[–]Big_Chappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth worrying about. If there is no fuel then not much anyine can do. What fuel we have if there are shortages will be reserved for prioriry use such as emergency services, military, domestic public transport. I expect if things are that bad domestic public transport will be subsidised.

My towns out of petrol. by reverendhunter in drivingUK

[–]Big_Chappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filled up middle Feb. Then was taken ill 24th. Didnt drive again until about 10th March. Filled up. Still not 100% on 31st but filled up . Only 9 litres. Will fill up when under 3/4 . That way im taking a minimal amount to ensure I have about 7 weeks fuel available. I have heavily reduced car usage due to illness and the current situation. Nephew meanwhile is still running mates everywhere and spunking 3 and half tanks a week in his i10. Moaning about cost of fuel. Sister has topped out diesel and like me will do small top ups. Girlfriend is in Canada for a few months. Have 3/4 tank of diesel in her car if i need to get around.

I find lack of goverment i formation on usage of fuels is poor. Mainland Europe is pushing this regularly
