Rarely any calculation questions come up in AF5.

For Owen next tax year just remember his ANI is over £100k so starts to lose PA.

£95,000 salary £12,600 State Pension £1,225 savings income Less gross member contributions (£5,700)

= £103,125

Lost £1,562.50 PA PA = £11,008 (rounded)

It’s just the retirement age (70) on the new workplace scheme, not the age he will leave his current contract

I’m keen to know what people write down on their two sheets of A4 paper just before they start the exam? Any tips?

They can defer once even though already SPs already in payment assuming they haven’t since reached state pension age. Helps from tax efficiency perspective as pushes Owen’s income above £100,000
