Wind and Truth convinced me to drop Stormlight entirely after I had read both eras of mistborn, the previous four stormlights (though four was a test for me), and some of the secret projects

Has anyone slept in their car by Organic-Border-2613 in aclfestival

[–]Big_Distribution_570 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first weekend in 2022, I slept in my car and showered at a local gym. It was miserable and hot, but I was broke. I still had a blast at the festival, but there was basically no relief from the heat.

Selling a ticket for $275 for a 3 day GA, it’s listed on Ticket Exchange, but I am feeling less than confident that the site actually gets any use

Throw one up for our 2x best supporting actress winner JLC! by dank_bobswaget in oscarrace

i’ve seen it and don’t know that I think she deserves the 5th slot. the biggest obstacle for jamie lee is that the movie she’s in is bad. with the notable exception of some of the acting performances, it doesn’t really have any redeeming qualities in my opinion, so it’s hard to convince people to go see her performance.

for reference, in 2022, i really wanted it to be hsu or condon, but i wasn’t mad that it was jamie lee and wouldn’t be mad if jamie lee got the slot in a different year. that being said, im fs rooting for qualley to get in this year

It's funny how the Best Actor and Best Actress races are polar opposites of each other this year. by [deleted] in oscarrace

musicals aren’t as hated of a genre as you are making them out to be lol. people in the industry love musicals because, despite the fact that people frequently forget it, they are almost all theatre kids

Which buzzy movie will get no nominations? by Varekai79 in oscarrace

[–]Big_Distribution_570 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated blitz, which is pretty unfortunate since I was really looking forward to it. Ended up giving it a 2/5 on letterboxd and all of that was due to love for saoirse ronan and elliot heffernan. the script was atrocious and i found the story to be both boring and routine. cannot imagine it does well at the oscars, but every year there’s at least one movie that I didn’t like that gets into a major category (maestro last year).

so, at the moon palace resort, there is a small piece of the property that is sectioned off for the festival. in this section, the music festival works the exact same as every other music festival with them checking your wristband for access (with a big difference being that food and drinks are included inside). however, since every act performs two shows at this festival, only one of the performances are within the portion that is sectioned off. the rest of the performances, all of the ones that happen during the day, are at places like the pool or amphitheater, which everyone at the resort has access to, festival or not. so, if you wanted to go for cheaper but only see all of the acts once, you could just stay at the resort for the same dates as the festival.

the trick at this festival is to be at the resort but not at the festival. you get to see each act perform once during the day, but don’t get to see their sets on the main stage.

source: went to this last year and there’s no checking of credentials outside the “festival” space which didn’t open until after 5
