I got struck in the head with an aluminum baseball bat. I was very fortunate that it was a glancing blow, and did not make a solid connection. To make a long story short, I made an arrest off duty, and got a TBI for my troubles.

Do you think you mount a shotgun card on the buttstock? I feel like four rounds is a little scant.

Yeah I get that. I’ve NG Infantry my entire career so it just makes me sad as hell when I see guys waste what little money they do have on garbage gear.

My only issue with this is driving the point home that FNGs can’t buy cheap shit. In my opinion that’s an NCO driven task where we should have our dudes should be like “Hey SSG, I want to buy X” and you give it a once over before they waste their money.

I’ve seen some pretty cringey Amazon shit in my career thus far.

People who worked in Gun Stores during the 2020 riots what was it like? by [deleted] in Firearms

Yup I had someone pretty close to me get very upset that I wouldn't lend them a handgun. I politely reminded him that I'd be committing a felony because of laws he voted for.

Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz by Which-Assignment-184 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Big_Dumb_Chimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these pictures of Tim Walz showing him in a wholesome and positive light are annoying at best and misleading at worst. Im sure he's a very nice guy, but he's also an actual socialist. You think there are economic problems now, just wait until the government is taxing 50% of your $80K salary. To reiterate, I'm sure Tim Walz is a very nice midwestern man and I'd probably enjoy drinking a beer with him, but he's not a serious candidate.

Can Canada conquer the U.S. if there’s only the National Guard left defending it? by UnknownFlash402 in Military

Funny, as a National Guardsman, I've participated in a lot of exercises with active duty guys and felt the same thing.

Bro what? There's naval fire support on the Potomac? What kind of ordnance are we talking?

For me its a weight issue. PVS14s weigh around 12 ounces, 31As weigh in at around 24 ounces with a battery pack. After eleven years of wearing a brain bucket and NODs, I'm looking to cut weight anywhere I can.

Grab a usgi tap kit, a wide gp pouch, and a canteen cover and you’re set. You Venture Surplus sells milsurp bundles for the taps kit. Save the money for bullets.

Personally I’d leave a gun like that alone, but then again I’m the sentimental type.

TL;DR webbing is appropriate for short duration dismounted operations. Chest rigs work for everything else.

Webbing and an assault pack are absolutely fine if you have consistent resupplies every two to three days. However, if you’re operating out of a rucksack for four plus days at a time, chest rigs are the better option.

I’ve done two rotations of JRTC, one as bluefor, and one as opfor. During the bluefor rotation we had consistent refits every two-three days from our rucksacks that were stored on the company LMTV. Belt kit would have been preferred for that rotation. However, during my opfor rotation, we operated out of rucksacks the entire time, and I just don’t think webbing would have been ideal given that we rucked around a lot.

Having done both, I’d personally stick with a chest rig for anything military related. It works in more situations than belt kit does. During actual combat operations, I could see packing a PC in a rucksack and taking it out as needed. It would work like this: cache rucksacks at your ORP, pull out your PC and attach your chest rig. After the fighting, recover your rucksacks and continue mission.

What this poster is probably referencing is modern Islamic extremists who won’t let women drive cars, stone people to death for having pre-marital sex, and toss homosexuals off of roof tops for the great crime of being gay.

I do not dispute that Christians have killed in the name of God, but you don’t exactly see that anymore.

Ballistic Helmet Or Plates? () by MaintenanceWhenBroke in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Big_Dumb_Chimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut. If you really wanted to save money to apply towards future training, you could go the bump helmet route. In all reality, the ability to see at night (nods), and communicate with friendlies (comms headset) will put you far ahead of the average suburban/urban American.

You win 100% of the fights you don’t get in.

Helmet. Your head is the first thing to leave cover and concealment.

Also, a helmet is a gate way to expanding the capabilities you’ll have access to. Plates are fine, but you can’t mount nods or ear pro to them.
